Turbo warm up?

I will start up my car and let the engine temp rise to normal, then I will take it out and drive normal speed through the neighborhood. But for some reason the last few times I have taken it out the first time i step on it the first turbo always kicks in fine but the second one does not kick in. I will then try it again and it will run fine and both of the turbos are working and making really good power.

Anybody can help me with this?

do you have a boostmeter?
You get 10 psi from the first turbo?
If you don't the second will not kick in

Yes and no. I've read that the secondary turbo will NOT come online unless you've got at least 8 psi of boost on the first one. But when my car had a boost leak, I was getting a consistant 5-3-5 boost pattern. The primary would get up to 5psi, I'd hit 4.5k rpms and then the secondary would startup, hence the 2psi drop and then go up to 5psi. Just my $.02.....

The boost gauge is your first step. A boost pattern (with numbers) is really the easiest diagnostic point.

If you want to do a test now, try the Key On / Key Off test. It tests the function of two of the valves that are necessary for the 2ndary to kick in. Lower half of the page: http://www.fd3s.net/boost_test.html

You may want a partner to help with this test, so they can stay put and watch the actuators move while the other does the key stuff.

For more info on the components mentioned in the tests, visit http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm
This should help you find the parts on the engine and also give you other things to inspect.

You have to remember that in your situation, the turbos are still making full boost (10-11psi prob) but aren't making it all the way through the intake track to the intake manifold were your boost gauge is taking its reading. If turbo #1 doesn't come online, #2 will not either.
