Turbo timer to run rad fans?

I have a TT from an old project I never used, and I don't plan to run it on the FD, but is there A way I can utilize the timer function to run the rad fans for a programmed time after shutdown? Has anyone done this and if so help a brother out with wiring tips -

Should I run a whole new relay/powersource to the fans and just bypass the stock setup "overriding" it by supplying power from the tt?? It seems all i need is the turbo timer to get the "power off" signal on the correct wire upon shutdown to activate its timer function. I doesnt have to run off the ignition necessarily, right?

Hmmm speaking of which, it has a digital voltmeter built in with warning... I wonder if I could feed it the volt signal from the water temp sender and have them displayed... and then set the warning where I want according to the sensor output range... Hmmmm..

OK Im gonna try it, I cant hurt anything right ( famous last words), if anyone has any tips, or can forsee problems ( alarm, etc etc) please let me know..

What I would do is shut the car down completely, then turn it to the aux setting; turn on the interior fans; set the timer, and you are ready to go. It will usually keep the rad. fans going until the timer's done.

-kinda ghetto, but effective

Yup, kill the car, turn on the a/c, and set the timer for 5+ minutes.

Well it doesnt want to read low voltage, so it doesnt appear I can use the volt meter/warning for a display of the water temperature sender voltage. Also when investigating it seems the only time both fams come on is when the AC is on - is this right?

i just turn off the car, turn on the a/c and set the timer for however long i feel like it needs. timer shuts off, fans turn off, and your car is locked up and cooled down while you're long gone.

what's the point of having the fans on when the car is off? Watter doesn't circulate, nor does oil. I have vented hood, so all the heat gets out anyway.

Ive been doing the exact same thing for around a year, and never has the motor been heatsoaked. I leave the timer on for 9min59sec

You are absolutely right, but let me tell you why people do it. Not everyone has a vented hood like you do so it does lower underhood temps when you park in public and don't want to run off and leave your hood open. It does cool the water in the radiator, which is a significant portion of the water in your radiator. This helps in situations where you park the car for a few minutes and then come back and drive again. You now have a radiator full of nice cool water to mix with the water that has been sitting in the block heating up.

I'm in the same situation as you. Have a turbo timer sitting around which I am going to time the fans. I think you may be able to use part of the turbo timer harness to activate the timer when the ignition is off. Then power the fan relays from another or new circuit. Seems like a great idea to me to avoid the BS you need to do with the fan mod. Would be completly automatic. And you can change the time the fans stay on. Let me know how your install goes.

i did the tt fan thing for years, turn car off turn ac on, turn key on, and the fans will run as long as you have the tt set for.

i dunno if it helped or not but i never had any problems with the car...

I would like to wire it so I don't have to leave the key on. I would power the timer when the ignition is off. This may require an additional relay which is open while the ignition is on but closes when powered off. The idea is for it to be totally automated and turn on when you turn off the car and pull the key out.
