turbo setup opinion

I know that this probably isnt the best place for this but I am not sure where else to put it. I was thinking the other day about how much I like the sequential turbo setup and the lack of turbo lag and was trying to think of a sequential setup that would create alot of power without lag. I have looked at the BNRs but I want more power than that. So I had the thought of running like a T3/4(honda turbo) as the first and then maybe a T78 or T04R, has anyone tried something of this sort or am I just going nuts?

I am using the Spirit R turbo now but I will go TO4R setup later. Can't image the power of single turbo.I know single is expensive but it is the final step you will go.

Did you notice a big difference in lag and power compared to the stock twins?

take a look at the BNR upgraded turbos. RX7store.net has them and there is a lot of good info on this forum regarding them. Do a search for them. also, pettit racing sells upgraded twins.

How much power are you looking for?
When pushed to the limit the stockers are good for about 380-400 rwhp. Not that they will last very long putting out that kind of power. There is BNR's that put out slightly more horsepower, M2 BB upgrades, 99 Spec Turbos, Twin GT25/28 kits, etc...

While a it looks nice and must be a hell of a setup, I would imagine it would be laggy as hell. Maybe if it had a hell of a port or a 3 Rotor to spool it, it wouldn't be too bad lag wise. But the original poster is looking for something that is on par with the stock twins and puts out big power.
Which in reality just isn't going to happen there is a trade off as far as power, lag, spool/boost threshold is concerned.
Newer technology (VATN, BB) makes it a smaller compromise, but it's a compromise none the less.
My advice would to be figure out what you really want out of the car and what you drive it for. For a pure street car/auto-x the stock twins or upgraded stock twins are hard to beat for the level of power and power band. If you want slightly more power with slightly increased lag, look into a GT35R, RX6, T04S, kit. If you want big power look into a T-78, T-88, T72, T51, etc...
Custom twins are cool in theory because two smaller turbo spool quicker then one big turbo, but it's a lot of work and they won't work like the stock twins unless the keep the stock restrictive manifold.
Good luck.

I think you're right!

Igy's setup obviously isn't for the weak hearted... I just thought I'd throw it up so people can see some of the crazy stuff that can be done.

I thought he was on this forum... Maybe I'm mistaken..
