turbo question... please respond quick...
when I try and spin the turbos how much resistance should there be? when I spin them should they freely spin for awhile or just stop right after I stop spinning them? thanks

I had my turbo's out this year twice. First was from a blown front
rotor apex seal. And the second from a blown rear turbo shaft.
In my experience: When the frist rotor Apex seal blew it took out another apex seal with it and lotts of metal went into the turbo causing it to spin really slow. It also chewed the turbine
fins on the first rotor pretty badly. I used brake cleaner on them
by spraying in between the housing and the turbine. Managed to
get allot of metal out of there. The First Turbo now spun up nicely... really nice... after a spin it would continue on freely...
I thought I cleaned out the rear as well-but the rear never spun up as well. Not sure why.
My engine builder could not answer why the first spun up so well. But he suggested I replace the first cartridge because of the bent up turbine blades.
He put in a used cartridge that did not spin up that well. And he insisted that having it installed and that when it was in the system and oiled I would have no problems.
My car seem to be ok now but my turbos are definitely not as strong as the originals. jc
