Turbo install before or after rebuild??

I am looking at getting a GT3540 turbo. Is it better to do this after a engine rebuild or can it be done before? I have good compresion now w/ 88k on the motor. If I would blow a seal after the turbo install how much damage would be caused to the turbo? Would run an AEM or PFC as computer.

You wouild definately want to install the turbo after you put the new engine in, no telling what you would do to the turbo if you blew the engine, especially if you're going to put on a NEW turbo, just my opinion

yeah but there doesn't seem to be any indication of him needing a new engine. if it still has good compression and has no symptoms of dying why not buy the turbo and install it?
