turbo or gauge problem?

i just finished installing my gauge, and while i was driving the highest it went was 5 psi and after 4500 it dropped entirely back into the inhg range, it stayed around 20ish during idle and maybe 15 on cruising. even when i felt the jolt of the 2nd turbo it still just went down. i'd like to think it's not the gauge but what could it be. i have it hooked up to the map sensor line and it's grounded to the body from a bolt near the clutch, haven't hooked up the illumination wire yet though.

Best thing I can suggest is to tee in on the pass side of the UIM and move your ground. If you were actually getting vacuum after 4500rpm you certainly wouldn't be feeling the push of the turbos anymore.

i'll do that tomorrow, it's a mechanical ground though, would the location have any effect on the gauge or is it just for the illumination? i'll try tapping into the uim instead of the map sensor and see what changes.
