Turbo/BOV problems

I am not sure whats going on but when it first started my turbo stopped spooling up or that i could not hear it anymore, was no blow off, then after a while i could hear the turbo but no bov, then the bov came back but was weak, now i have loud turbo spool but cant really har the bov. I changed the air filters in witch gave my turbo better spool but i cant figure out whats going on. I use to have a very very loud bov sound like hear 3 blocks away lol but now its crap. Not sure if its the BOV or the turbo. If anyone got any advice plz assist. ^^

sounds like you have a sizeable boost leak. I would check the Y pipe first.

its not that hard it just seams like it is because of all the stuff you need to take off. With basic tools and a little patient it shouldn't take you longer than 30 minutes at most to get down to the Y pipe.

That blowoff valve is jacked up - those holes DO need something plugged in.

Seriously, just get a stock blowoff valve and call it a day. They work great, make a good woosh noise, and can handle whatever the twins want to put out.

BTW, you have the upgraded "Efini" Y-pipe, that was stock on Japanese cars from '96+, so you have no Y-pipe coupler to leak.

You're new here . ALL FD's had turbos, PERIOD. No such thing as a non-turbo FD, not in the US, not in Japan, not anywhere.

That BOV is seriously jacked up. The top nipple that is missing is the one for the vacuum line. Most likely that hole is stripped out, common problem on the Greddy BOV's. The bottom nipple stays open to atmosphere.

The hole on the adapter - not sure why that's there, but that ain't helping things at all.

Clearly you are retarded and need to sell this car.

ALL FD3S CARS CAME WITH SEQ-TWIN TURBOS. There were not any production 3rd-gen Rx-7's sold without turbos. Owners like you are the reason why these cars get a bad rep. People don't know what they're doing, and they blow things up.

Please sell your car and buy a civic.

That's the downside of buying a used car, you never know what the previous owner(s) did to it until you start digging into it. You do have a later model Y-pipe (so not the stock 93-95 Y-pipe), but all FD's only came twin turbo from Mazda. Anything different was done outside of Mazda.

Oh dear...all 3rd gen rx7s were seq. twin turbo from the factory. Period. No exceptions. If a previous owner removed them and sold it as so, then that would be why it didn't have any. You have a LOT of reading to do, if you don't wish to accidentally cause some serious issues to the poor car...good luck.

PS:Id like to see your dyno graph of 380-400whp with those mods

i'm sorry, but this guy is either a troll trying to give us a run for our money, or (as i stated before) completely retarded.

let's look at the thread so far:

1) the guy says his BOV is no longer working and he can't figure out why - the then posts pictures of the bov with gaping holes in it where someone has removed nipple fittings - it's not like a hose just fell off or something. someone removed the fitting. how could the car have ever functioned correctly in the first place? yet he claims it only recently started acting weird?
2) the guy says with his "mods" he is making 400 horses
3) the guy says the car is the one and only n/a FD3S that mazda ever sold
4) the guy says there is oil leaking from the turbo from when the previous owner had it (but he already said it didn't come turbocharged... )
5) the guy says that he had turbos installed on the car (because it was n/a when he bought it).
6) he says he has '99-spec turbos which cost well over $2500 alone (but they're leaking oil?). this means he also had to install an intercooler + piping (minimum $500) + the efini Y pipe + the bov + labor + etc. YET HE CLAIMS HE CAN'T AFFORD A NEW BOV!? really?

statement #1 makes no sense. #2 was pulled out of thin air. #3 is just plain false. #4 and #5 completely conflict with each other.

so either:

A) this guy is lying
B) this guy is retarded

i'm gonna go with B. no wait, A....ah !@# it, A & B.

by the way, here is this guy's myspace page:
http://www.myspace.com/rx-7

he's 19 years old and is posting videos of doing donuts in a wet culdesac
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...eoid=103300841

i have a feeling there's gonna be a '93 ssm FD for sale with a blown motor pretty soon...anyone need a roller?
