turbo 2 housings in fd build?

hey guys i am currently ***** deep in my fd rebuild and my housings are no good i found a set of good condition turbo 2 housings, can i use these in an fd motor what are the differences. i know this is already somewhere on the forum but i am at work and this was quiker than searching lol.

They can be made to work but they are inferior housings. The FD has better cooling in the spark plug area to limit detonation, and a better coating on the housing surface to reduce friction effects on the apex seal.

If they are S5 housings you are fine. Dont run the S4s as timing is different. Often times it is easier to find nicer quality S5 housings than FD housings. FD housings all seem to suffer from cracking around the spark plug holes and deeper striations above the trailing spark plug hole on the mating surface which is kinda ironic when you look at Arghx posts. Seems to be another situation of what an engineer thought would work and what really works in real life.

Obviously there are other factors to take into consideration as to why the fd housings seem to wear faster than the S5 housings. Either way you will be fine running a good set of S5 housings be it NA or TII as long as you make the correct modifications to the housings.

the improved cooling in the spark plug area was more than offset by other things on the REW that increased stress (higher operating temps due to fan control logic, higher boost than the older engines, higher redline, etc)
