Tune Needed for these mods???

Car came with a sequential setup and Pfc tuned with the mods listed below. After a long list of events its back on the road with a another PFC running on the base map.

- Full non-sequential
- Rats nest and air pump gone
- Ported wastegate
- Greddy front mount and charge pipes
- Hks Intake pipes
- 3inch Exhaust all the way through with a resonator

MBC is set to .5Bar and im barley in boost scared to blow without a tune. Am i being overly cautious?

Yes, you probably do need a tune. Whats the background story?

I would not take it past 10psi.

Depending on the pfc serial number you have, It may run lean high rpms with boost over 10.

Main harness was damaged in turn blew the Ignitor, pfc, map, coils, etc.
Im holding off on the tune to do the fuel pump rewire and install a Ngk wideband.

If you subscribe to Chuck's notes, he has a good starter map for non-sequential.

That mush have been a helluva turn!

who is Chuck and where can I see his notes? I just went from sequential to non-sequential and the car won't boot past 5psi anymore. I'm new to the Mazda/PFC world so I need some guidance.

Not sure, before the conversion when it was still in sequential mode (what it is currently tuned for), the issue was the 2nd turbo wouldn't come online. First turbo would boost up as it was intended to do, then the transition hit, and then nothing from the secondary.

I then decided to go non-seq because I didn't feel like spending a week trying to find the solenoid that was messed up.

I did everything via all of the write up's/how to's that I read. Now the issue is I only get 5psi maximum, Utilizing the 'wastegate solenoid' to control boost, it will boost up to 5psi and then creep up to 8psi after 4500rpm....as opposed to going through the 'pre-turbo' solenoid, which only yielded 5psi all the time.

If you remove the MBC and run straight pressure to that one nipple on the wastegate actuator, does the boost stay the same?

If that's directed towards me, the PFC is controlling boost.

if you can figure out the boost issue PM me, I've got a map you can use, I have the exact same mods you do too, I haven't rewired the fuel pump either, but until you do, don't even try turning the boost past 10lbs.

I had the same isssue (max 5-6 psi) with the pfc controlling the boost. Went with a MBC and that solved that issue.

If you do decide to tune yourself, i also highly reccomend contacting Chuck.

Get it tuned, period.

When I got my PFC from The RX7 Store, I was told it didn't need tuning. That the base map would work. I didn't push the car until it was looked at by someone else. Then I was told there were lean spots in the map. Got it tuned. Take the safe road.

I don't think you read through the thread... We have established the car needs a tune.

Car is going away for winter fixes/upgrades anyways.
