Trying to remove bose system
Hey guys, I am an average joe driver in a not so average kick-a third gen rx7. I love it to death and will update you more as I make mods on it and get more $$.
Anyway, my project right now is upgrading the stock bose audio system. I have an alpine cda-7878 that i installed just fine and i have an alpine amp mrv t757 two channel amp that i bought for my alpine swr 1240d subwoofer in the rear.
I have not installed the sub or the amp yet. I also have a pair of alpine sps 1629s speakers for the front.
Anyway, when taking out all of the bose equipment, the technician that did it, said that the bose side speakers came out with an enclosure. How do you mount side door speakers? Are those enclosures necessary and where are the amps for the bose system specifically located or better yet what do they look like? i am trying to install this system and i actually sold the other one to another rx7 owner but if i cant install my new system i am not going to sell the other. all help would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone!

The Bose door speaker units (enclosures) include the amps - each spkr has it's own amp - the sub amp is mounted in the WAVE Guide under the drivers. There is also a center chanel amp located next to the glove box under the dash in the center console.
You will have to get new door spkr mounts or make your own.

Hmm.. Back from the dead. What I want to do is remove the Bose tubing in the rear, and find a decent head unit combined with some decent speakers for my car....
I don't want to install an extra amp/woofer for any components. Just the head unit and speakers. I have a touring model with the center speaker eliminated.
So what parts do I need to replace? I need
1. Head unit
2. left door speaker
3. right door speaker
4. left rear speaker
5. right rear speaker
But in the touring cars, where does one mount the rear speakers if the Bose tubing/stuff is removed? TIA

Hey Guys
After I purchased my FD, I took it to a car audio place to have the Bose system removed. The head unit was not functioning well, and I wanted to remove the accoustic wave crap from the trunk to give me some more room back there.
The audio shop re-carpeted the trunk for me after removing the bose stuff, and put a fine mesh over the holes in the rear parcel shelf, and that all looks quite good.
They installed new front speakers in the stock locations in the doors.
The rear 6" speakers were installed in place of the rear side pockets (above and to the side of the storage bins.) The pockets were removed, and the speaker mounted in a rather solid feeling "foam" filler that was cut to size to fill the hole. It blends in quite nicely with the interior trim of the car.
I'm not running any amps, just a 4X52W Clarion deck driving the 4 speakers.

If this is all your doing, just re-wire the new speakers to your new head unit with the rear head unit speaker wires. Since you have a Touring like I do, you are going to have to buy some rear speaker brackets off a base or R1 to fit 6X8 speakers in those little pockets behind the seats.
