Question trying to get info on restrictor plates

searched but couldnt find exactly what they are.

is it just a replacement gasket that has a 2" opening placed between the dp and mp?

trying to control creep without getting rid of my midpipe.

thinking about a high flow but it costs too much.

anyone using it? used it?

am i nuts?

uhhh.. well mods..

If you use a 1 1/2 inch restrictor plate between your dp and midpipe, it will limit your boost to 9-10psi I know cuz thats what I was running when my turbos would over boost to 15psi+

i just put one in about a week ago. I have similar mods to you minus the PFC. I had a 2" diameter hole cut in a piece of heavy sheetmetal, drilled the appropriate holes, and cut it into the shape of the exhaust flange. pretty easy really. I put it in because of the cold weather that is coming. I have my boost controller set at 12psi. it goes slightly higher than 12 around 5k rpm or so, but then settles right back down after that. good for keeping my engine from popping, bad for top end power. What a difference it makes!!

did you use one or two flanges?

did you sandwich two stock flanges on either side of the plate to prevent leaks?

does it leak?

how thick? i dunno.. its late.. i'm talking out'a my *** waiting for my engine to be rebuilt.. because it popped 2 hours after i slapped on a midpipe

I think you are using flange=gasket

the flange is the thick piece of metal that is connected to the exhaust and holds the bolts. I put it in between my catback and midpipe. I used high temp silicone sealant to seal it. It's just temporary until i port my wastegate. no it doesn't leak.
i don't know what gauge of metal it is, but i would guess that it is nearly 1/16" thick.

sorry to hear about the engine

why don't you have your wastegate ported since your engine/turbos are out and easy to get to?

hey qball, i pm-ed you to see if you wanted to trade your midpipe for a hi-flow. but in any case, you can run a plate w/o the gaskets, and just get a good stainless plate and bolt it in place of a gasket.

replied to your pm... i think i'll give the restrictor plate a shot first.

dont really want to port the wastegate of the turbos...

if the restrictor plates dont work i guess i can drive up to the bay and trade.. hehe.. it'll be cool to break in the motor over one weekend.
