Question Trusted rotary mechanic in L.A. Area?

Hi, I am looking into buying a 3rd Gen. RX-7 pretty soon. I have seen how awesome these babies can go, and they GO! My question was if anyone of you guys know of a shop that knows about rotary engines in the Los Angeles area? The help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

Tri-point in Canoga, or Mazdatrix in Signal Hill are the famous ones.

TRiPOINT is located INGOMAR St. in canoga park. Call 411 and they should be able to give you their #.

If you want just minor repairs there is also a place called SALAZAR MAZDA SPECIALIST in Fletcher Dr. near Griffith park.

Mazdatrix is also a good source for parts and service.

Tripoint is kind of expensive so be carefull..shop around!

Give Jeff McCall @ Rotary Power a call, they do excellent work and don't charge exorbant amounts like Tri-Point.

Take your car to him if you're thinking about buying one. He'll check out your car and do a compression check for like 50-60 bucks. The shop is a bit obscure and run down looking, but him and Alan do great work; I have never heard a single negative thing about them.

Heh... yes. Rotary Power. They're very good and VERY cheap in comparison to other rotary specialists. Shop is also sorta "ghetto" in comparison to other shops and they really only have two guys that will work on you car (Jeff or Alan), but that's a GOOD thing because both of them know the car very well. I've never been to Tri-Point, but I've heard complaints about Tri-Point's work (and of course price) lately. I guess some of their better mechanics don't work there anymore so the quality of work isn't what it used to be. I've never been there myself so I can't confirm that, that's just what other people have told me.

It also depends what you want done on your car though. Rotary Power does mostly mechanical stuff I think. If you want your ecu tuned or something or some electronics stuff, I would go to XS... that is if they even have time to help you, heh they're always busy.

Never been to rotary power, but since they have a nice following on the board, they are worth a shot. FYI, it's true Tri-Point does charge a little bit more, than I'd like to pay.....and it isnt the KD of the West like some guy was braggin about.
But if you are thinking about Tri-point I'd suggest MTrix first, as I only go to Tri-point for stuff that needs immediate attention since it's closer.

TriPoint

Im not sure if TriPoint has a dyno but i know they do alot of BMW and RX7 race cars. When i went there they were preparing a new BMW 3 series (e46) for a touring race. Nice guys but charge a bit more than other rotary place.
