trouble shutting doors

unless i shut the doors holding the door itself,v( ie not near the window or handle, but lower), the door bounces open. the doors feel very heavy.

also, when doors are shut, it sounds like the inside of a vault, very soundproof

i suspect the previous owner soudproofed the door by adding several kg of insulation.

or do all 93 7's have heavy feeling doors and sound very quiet inside despite LOUD straight thru exhausts?

You can grease up the hinges and runner that the door swings on. That might make it easier to close, but FD doors are big. I hate slamming doors and I have to on the FD. Nature of the beast.

I took out the runner altogether...I had the same problem and grease didn't fix it. Now the only problem is that the door swings all the way open but its still better than it was before

yes, it seems like a common problem. I noticed that if the window is open or the moonroof is open the door will close very easily. My assumption is that the cabin is airtight enough that the pressure of the door closing doesn't equalize as fast with the outside and inside pressures.

lol yeah my driver door is hard to close too.. but if i had the window down, its slightly easier.. i think it has something to do with my door panel like its not on correctly..

it sucks too cause i just bought new door scuffs and it made some smears from the tan panel onto it..

i remember reading that its because of the airtight seal the FD compartment has. When all other windows and doors are closed, closing the driver door will be hard if u dont slam it cause of the pressure the inside makes...however when closing the door with even the littlest crack in a sunroof or passenger window the door will almost always close shut with a lot less force then usual. i myself just place my hand on the handle and follow through with the door closing motion.......

Well, it shouldn't "bounce open"; that's an indication of a possible latch or door hinge problem.

I agree. If it's bouncing open w/o latching (assuming your not holding the outside handle up), it sounds like a latch-to-striker problem. The latch may be damaged or worn, or the the striker needs adjusting outward a bit, or both. Possible, but less likely, is that the door hinges are worn so badly that the back of the door is sagging.

not mine

with both windows up, i can close my passenger side with one finger giving a light "pushing a button on the tv" type of force and the door will close. and it will still do so even if the door is only about 6 inches open..

my driver door is hard as hell though with both windows up, i felt the underside of the door panel and i see its a bit off, thats why it rubs my scuff plate when i close it (and the plate is brand new ) i have to check that..

you do kinda have to put yer wrist into it.

the door closes fine, and makes a perfect seal...i just am always surprised that it takes such effort to get it to shut that last inch, where is almost shut, but not quite.

i'm always checkin to see if my passengers shut it right : )

Same problem here. But I can tell that it is closed all the way by the "thump" sound. It almost sounds hallow.

My passenger door closes with no issues at all, even if everything else is closed first. My passenger door takes A LOT of effor to shut. I have to kind of put my weight into it to get it to shut. When it does, it sits flush and is firm....

Has anyone else had any luck with replacing the door lock or adjusting the door striker? THe FSM says a few things about adjusting the striker, and I haven't done it yet... just wondering
