trouble getting dash to fit in
Has anyone had trouble getting their stock FD dash to fit. I bought a roller, and it came with a dash, but i dont think the dash was originally from the car.
I have tried so many different approaches to getting this to work. (something that should be so simple) but i am lost. Every time i try and start one side, by the doors, the other side is a good 2" from being where it should (almost like i have to force it towards the firewall to get it in.
Could the dash be bent, or messed up that bad? seems unlikely... the only thing i can think of is the dash was from a wrecked car and it tweaked the main support bar in the dash... but i am not even sure if that is possible...
any advice is appreciated.
my car is straight, i dont think there is an issue with my car. at least i hope not... its a widebody car and i just spent almost 5k on the paint.

They don't go in easy at all. I had mine out and remember it being a bitch to get back in, keep trying different angles. I think I did mine straight on, put it a little high on the windshield side until it was in place and then it dropped down.

yea, the pillars are off. i got up under it and looks for something interfering but i can't seem to see or feel anything. the steering column is still out of the car.
prew, i have tried pretty much exactly what you were saying. keeping it high, then dropping it down but it doesnt want to go towards the firewall far enough.
i am pretty sure, but cant say 100% the car is straight because i bought it like this.
However, it was a full rotisserie job before i picked it up. So i'm sure the guy didnt put this much work into a junk car.
after paint:
all the body panels line up perfect, so i don't think its the car. i am thinking of making a "jig" out of wood to make sure the mounting tabs are correct, i'll post them and maybe someone can check out their car if they have the dash out.

Yea. That might be it too. The center air duct.... You have to keep the bottom of the dash facing up a bit slide it straight in and then drop the bottom down push forward should pop right in. Post a pic. I have my dash out. It's a 93. The dash is a very tight fit. It goes in and out way easier with a set of helping hands. Your car looks sweet btw. I'm jealous

Josh if you're still having trouble it may be worth while to bring the dash down to put in one of my stripped cars to see if it's the dash or the car.
The dash normally drops right in short of obvious things getting in the way. The center upper bolt hole should line up square and flush. If you can't get that lined up something is in the way and you just have to keep on adjusting or moving things (making sure wires are hooked up etc...) until you have it resting comfortably with the center bolt lined up.
