Trigger Wheel Questions

If the trigger wheel for the CAS is even slightly bent/warped, maybe 1/8-1/16 of an inch in a small spot, would this have a adverse affect on a new rebuild, or any motor for that fact, abililty to start?

Also, if the outside of the wheel (visiable from front of car, not the side that passes the cas) had rattle can paint on it, like the whole face of it was painted, would this effect it?

if it's not one of these two things, I'll pull the plugs and crank on it to make sure I didn't flood it, but other than that....... Guess compression check it, but it's never been started so I'm not sure where it would need to be anyway.

The crank angle sensor plate cannot be bent. The clearance between the plate and the little protruding "tit" at the top is very tight - like 1 to 2 mm. Check out page F-180 in the green manual and you will see. However, I have seen them start with this slightly out of spec.

No painting the wheel does not affect performance unless it is extremely thick.

Pull the plugs and check for fouling, insert now ones and check every other system out. Maybe squirt a little oil into the housings for compression.

Yes the clearance is the thing to watch and the paint should be thin on the side toward the engine .I had mine power coated and then sanded the side down thin so the magnets could react to it .

I thought I read on here a while back that you can foul a brand new plug without it even showing signs of wear. Is their any merit to that, and if so....how in sam hell are you suppose to diagnose a faulty plug that looks brand new.
