What ar you breaking?

Option #1 If it's the output shaft liberty can upgrade that as well as treat all the gears to harden.

Option #2. Like above you can go t56 and also have gforce or liberty build.

I went with the liberty built stock box and it has been great for 600+hp. I mainly drag race and no lift shift and finally broke 3rd gear after 100+ passes. It wasnt from the hp but the shifting load.

Either choice is a good one. The liberty stock box built with upgraded out put shaft, treated on all gears will run about 2k and a tad more depending on what's already broke. Give Paul or mark a call there.

Option 3:

Go to a FC T2 transmission, per my mechanic, they are a moderate amount stronger than the FD transmissions.

One of the last cars he sold was a '91 convertible that he put a FD trans into.

The basics of putting a FC T2 trans in are the following (per my mechanic who is on the phone right now and doing this from memory):

Need FC trans with shifter and clutch, (have to check if the T2 clutch will fit the FD flywheel)
driveshaft needs to be adapted
change cluch line to shorter SS line, slave cylinder on T2 is on top
have to take out trans to diff brace
fabricate and install trans brace
fabricate diff support and brace (if you are going to a 8.8 Ford or something else, this would have to be done anyway)

If you want you can call him if you don't take up too much time

Arthur, by the time you put in the Tremec T56, replace the rear end with something like a Ford IRS LSD, put in a heavy duty Fluidyne radiator etc, you might as well put in a an engine that is a direct bolt up to the trans, like a Chevy LS V8.

I solved all my tranny problems by hiring Eddie Murphy and installed the Tremtac T56 6-speed in my car.
