Trans rebuild..
My input shaft bearing sounds like someone shaking a bucket of rocks so the trans is comin out. Shifting seems ok, no grinding, so i was wondering if there are other bearings that can be replaced while its out and or if there is a kit of normal replacement parts other than a complete rebuild. I have new clutch, throw bear and pilot. Does anybody know where to get best pricing as well. Thanks

Well, seeing as there are many bearings in the tranny it can essentially be any of them.. If the car has seen any poor shifting(ie missing shifts, or crashing gears) you can expect to need some new synchros and other associated parts. I would recommend a reputable rotary shop do your rebuild as they will have many of the usual parts needed. A national chain tranny shop will be able to do it but will charge you on a different scale and also upcharge you on the parts from a dealership(15 to 22% upcharge on wholesale) I had a "friend" who owns a performance shop(and they know trannys) rebuild mine with all new stock parts and bearings and cost me almost $2500 last year, and all I thought I needed was 5th gear synchros and a countershaft bearing.
