I would think that the trans cooler, if there is one, would have the same sized fittings but the cooler itself would be smaller. Does the 7 even come with a tranny oil cooler???

Visually they look the same - I think the Trans cooler is the same as the R-1 Rt Side cooler.

you can get trans coolers from pepboys for like, $70, why can't we use those as oil coolers?

You can, and they work quite well.

One thing to keep in mind though - oil has an optimal temperature range - too hot or too cold is not good.
If you go with any mod to oil cooling you really need to have a gauge to monitor it.

It IS possible to ruin an engine by not having the oil hot enough.

Or you could just get an oil thermostat to controls the temperature.

You HAVE to get a thermostat if you use it for oil, otherwise it will burst. Not sure about the tranny side though, which is what I want to find out.

im not sure about auto FD's (never seen one) but almost every automatic car i have seen the tranny cooler is actually built into the radiator. it uses the force of the ATF pumping to flow through the radiator. im not sure if it will work on a manual tranny as there isn't anything to pump the gear oil it just works basically by splashing. jeg's sells a dual cooler kit u can im going to try to use as a manual tranny/oil cooler if i can get it to work
