Usually transmission problems like this won't 'go away' but only continue to get worse.
While I've an automatic in my FD, I've had a lot of manual transmission cars. Sometimes it is a simple as adjusting the shift linkage (where applicable) or replacing some seats and/or springs where the shift lever rests. Hopefully someone with first-hand knowledge of YOUR particular problem will chime in.

Good luck!

If it's falling out of 2nd then you either have a damaged 2nd synchro or a collapsed spring under a shifter detente.

Preferably it's the latter, as that requires a lot less labor to diagnose/repair.
