Tranny cost?

I might buy a 95 FD but it has a bad tranny. I could replace it myself but how much is a 3rd gen manual tranny?

Finding good used ones isn't super hard. I'd say $500 on the high side, especially if you get a used tranny from Japan.

Someone recently posted a link to a place that was selling good used Japanese trannies for a really fair price.

That's uncommon for the tranny to be *bad* - the car had to be MAJORLY abused for something to be wrong with the transmission. The FD has a VERY strong tranny. Broken 5th gear synchros are a common problem, but that just means the tranny grinds when you shift into 5th. It's not that expensive to have that problem fixed, either.
