Trailing Arm PN diff from base to R1...

Hello-

I was looking at my '93 microfiche (from iluvmyrx7.com) and found that the trailing arms for the rear suspension have two different part numbers: one for "normal" and one for "hard" suspension. What the heck is the difference? Is there any difference at all?

Thanks!

Take care,
Shad

"normal" is Touring and base models. "Hard" is for R-1.

Yes, I know that.

My question is what is the difference between a touring/base trailing arm and an R1 trailing arm? I *thought* they were identical...

Take care,
Shad

This is interesting. I didn't know they were different.

Shad, BTW, you want to get together sometime and check out cars?

I'm gonna bet it's the bushing used. The arm itself should be that same, as the geometry didn't change. If I recall, to change that bushing, you usually have to replace the whole arm unless you go with aftermarket stuff, right?

You're correct... but the next step of logic is what's confusing me... the base/touring and R1 bushings are different?

I called a dealership. The parts have the same price. But, of course, the parts guy didn't know much else. <shrug>

If you're a member of Mazda Motorsports you don't have to. Mazda Motorsports recently introduced replacement trailing arm bushings for the stock arms.
