track shock settings, track prep
Hey all. I'm doing the NASA event on 3/23-24 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway roadcourse. It's been a while since my last track event at MADS, so I have a few questions as my ride is now a 3rd gen as opposed to my 91 Turbo before.
1) For track use, what do you guys recommend for the Tokico Illumina settings? Presently, I have the rear set on 1 and the front set on 4 (I hope I don't have this backwards - anyway, the rear is softer obviously). For track is this good - or do any of you with Illuminas recommend a tighter setting?
2) I know a lot of guys use Redline Water Wetter for their rad. What proportions do you recommend for use?
3) For this event, I'll be using my street S0-2 Pole Positions. Just so I know beforehand - how can I expect these to perform on a dry track?
Thanks so much all! If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!!
Best regards,

1) I don't know about the shock settings specifically, but the 4/1 setup sounds reasonable. Softer rear will help you put the power down when coming out of a turn.
2) Water Wetter helps, and you should also pull the AC relay from the box along the front of the car between the intake and the IC duct. When you pull the relay, you can turn the AC swtch on to force the fans to run at a higher speed than they normally would. The light on the button will go on, but the AC won't actually be running.
3) As street tires go, those are excellent. You might chunk them up a little though (little chunks out of the tread block edges) so don't be heart-broken if that happens.
It sounds like you have done some events before, so you probably know to bring extra brake pads, flush and bleed the brake fluid (with the cheap and available Valvoline SynPower or something better), etc. Drink lots of water and have fun!
