NEW GOOD FINDINGS! thank GOD!

no one is going to believe this, and i wish someone would have recomended this, but after months, of work, and lots of money, and replacing and checking a lot of stuff, i decided to recheck the crank angle sensors (CAS). so their resistance checked out good at 1.18 ohms. i was about to put them back on the car, and i decided to clean the dirt/oil film off of them. i did, put them back on the car, and it cranked better than ever, every time.

i need verification, has anyone every had this problem/cure?

im just hoping it was not some faulty wiring i moved around while taking the CAS off.

but new problems have arose. im getting codes 26 (metering oil pump stepper motor), 27 (metering oil pump), 43 (solenoid valve wastegate control).

car cranks strong and perfect now, engine runs good, and perfect idle, revs slowly to 4000 rpms, and will not go any higher, and if i hit the gas pedal fast and hard, will not rise at all, and backfires a lot.

these codes have never appeared before, i guess the CAS, being off could have cauesed the computer not to recognize these problems.

can anyone point me in the right direction with these codes?

thanks
paul

If you reset the ecu and the codes still come up just replace the omp. Just get a used one.

ive reset the ecu twice, still getting codes, before i replace the oil metering pump, shouldnt i check for electrical problems? i have been reading a lot about OMP problems tonight, and it appears code 27 puts the car in 'limp mode' i guess thats what im experiencing, but anymore insight on the possible electrical problems would be great, i dont have much knowledge about the OMP system, yet, bc of lack of experience, so thanks for everything.

paul

also has anyone ever had the problem with their crank angle sensors, like i had?

If I remember correctly the OMP and crank angle sensor wires come from the same spot in the harness. If that is true I would invesitgate the harness itself further.

damon b, u mean the harness that is by the alt., clipped onto the bracket that is designed to pull the motor out?

son of a gun, i bet you are right, u know, i dont think i have ever had and easy fix, so i guess i will have to replace the OMP, or find yet another wire harness problem.

oh well, its a learning experience,

anyone else?

two good days in a row!

well codes 26 and 27 are no more! and no more limp MODE! wooooo whooo!

damonB thanks for the advice, and i will pass it on, for those having problems with anything on their car, take the oil metering pump for example, dont just replace the pump, which can be very expensive and lots of work, check the easy stuff first, bc, it will usually cost less also.

i found the harness to the oil pump, it was the one by alt. that has 9 wires in it, i was pulling and testing them one at a time, and one just pulled right out, it was not even attached, just shoved in there, so that explains, my hesistation, and stumbling, and backfirings, and just crappy performance. the loose wire was putting the car into limp mode every time it would break connection, and throw a code, (26 and 27) and than when it would make that connection complete again (due to hitting a bump, sharp curves, shaking the harness, etc.) it would run correctly.

i straight wired that single wire in that harness, and BAM!

perfect start, perfect while running, and it flies! due to a lot of maintanance i have performed while searching for this problem, but needed anyway.

i want thank everyone who has helped and gave ideas, i have learned so much, and my car is running great, and its all bc, of the intelligence, patience, and sharing from all the members on this web site.

thanks,

paul

maybe i can start to help some peeps out now

I'm glad to here that you have your problem solved. Hopefully you will never have to replace the oil metering pump because they are fairly expensive. I had no choice but to replace the omp.

That's great, I know from all your threads how much effort you put in. Glad to hear your car is running well now.
