rear brakes squeal ONLY in reverse, diagnostic please
my rear brakes squeal about 75% of the time i brake in reverse. it's not necessarily when i'm in reverse gear, just when the car is moving/rolling backwards and i brake there'll be a squeal. no noises when braking during forward movement.
i'm almost certain it's just the rear-passenger side too.
any ideas on what to check and how to fix it?
thanks

well i think the pads have less then 7k on em, all street/highway miles so i guess i shouldn't be worrying.
althought i've been meaning to change out the brake rotors so i might as well change out the pads too.

nothing to worry about if it's only when you back up. the STi has some mean pads, and after i seated them, the still squeek a little going forwards at low break pressure. and when i back up, even a tap and they squeek like crazy.
fwik, if you have higher grip pads, they will squeek. pay attention for vibration or anything else than a high squeek, unless they are old and then it's just common sense that they are probably out.
