totaled rx7

I'm thinking of buying a new project car and i'd like to rebuild a totaled 3ed gen rx7. What price do you think i'd end up paying for one? I'm thinking a car that got hit in the front or back and needs a decent amount of work.

Thanks

It'd be easier to find a roller for around $5k, then put a new engine into it for about $3k-$4k if you do it yourself.

That's true i'm just not to sure on the prices. I'll have to keep an eye out on your classifieds. How is the community here? I've been driving vr4's for a good while now and over at 3SI.org it's a really tight and friendly place.

It's a pretty close community here as well. Just remember to use the Search button a lot, as most questions have been asked before. I bet it'll be a shock going from a 3000GT to an RX-7, our cars weigh a tad bit less than yours.

It's true that they're heavy cars but there isn't anything like em' in the world. I wouldn't trade mine for anything... theres nothing like going 150+ and feeling like your cruising at 60... lol screw it I can't describe it but it's an awesome feeling

I'm sure this is a dumb question... but I didn't really see a newb section so i'll just ask here. What's the diffrence between the rx7's? I've seen Touring Editions etc. and I don't know the diffrence between them. I know on the 3000gt we've got base(sohc, non-turbo), sl(dohc, non-turbo) and vr4(dohc, twin-turbo) is it kinda like that?

the rx7club isnt nearly as tight and friendly as the 3SI... But it is a good place to learn nonetheless... My best friend has a black 99 3000gt vr4, he is over on your forum under the name mitsuman or something like that. Im sure you know him. He has ungodly amounts of money into the car and it just sits in his garage because he is constantly fixing, or changing his setup, or is just too scared to drive it...lol...

Oh I'm more than interested! I have the pump, sump pan, 10an lines and all... I'm just trying to figure if I'm going to run a relay or the aeromotive pump controller. What did you end up doing?

Just don't let the lounge lizards know you're a n00b. They attack quite fiercely lol.

Biggest advice is to search before you ask, and as far as the car goes...make sure you know what you're getting into before you buy.

Just out of curiosity, what's the drive train layout on the 3000GT? Is it FWD, RWD, AWD?

I wouldn't try to fix a total unless you really know what you are doing and have done it to other cars before. The FDs parts are expensive, starting with someone else's old project is not the way to go.

I know what I'm talking about, check the sig.
