Yes you can, Shifting into 3rd is more precise and
power to the ground is a little better as well. Downside:
A little more noise into the cabin...

It's worth it. It tightens up the whole car. It even feels different when you start the car. I know it's hard to believe but true. I have the short shifter and still missed the 2-3 shift once in a while. After the torque brace, haven't missed it yet.

You don't have to shell out $180 for one either. Make yourself one out of an APC strut bar for a 2000 Acura Integra and an L bracket from Lowes. Total cost: $37
If you don't think you can make it, I'll make you one for $80 plus shipping.

 

They are great but they shake the hell out of the car. You can tune it out by messing with the idle screw. It gets on my nerves around town but most of the time it is great. I'm going to rig some king of cotter pin quick disconect I think for city driving.

 

Like night and day. Shifting is SO crisp going into 3rd gear. I NEVER miss now. Before, just shifting at 4000, I would have to "think" about putting it in.

 

I'd love to see some pictures. The one for $37 sounds like a deal!

 

This is the first I have heard of this problem. Does it vibrate or literally shake the car from side to side ? Did you install it the same way as everyone else??

Oh No no. it just vibrates the car. I have no air pump and my idle searches a bit so when the RPMs come down a bit the car shakes like crazy.

 

Mine only shakes at around 1100 rpms. I don't have the airpump either.

 

Take a look at one of Dont_be_a_Rikki's posts. The DIY $37 torque brace is exactly like his. For $37, if you don't like it, sell it on the forum.

You have to remember that we don't have the anti-lock brake system sitting there. Plumbing for an engine torque brace on a Jspec Fd is EASY...

 

Talk to Opistion is the other thread with this subject, he has one and he said he had to mod it a little, but it sounded like it was pretty easy..

I have one and I think it was well worth the money for a few reasons, Easy shifting, STOPS the engine from putting so much torque on the engine mounts and puts that power to the wheels, and also it minimizes cracking and torting of the intercooler piping...
