took off air pump, rough idle now
I removed the air pump as Rob Robinette's site says to do it. Capped off the tubes and replaced belt. It ran and idled fine at start up but after a drive it stumbles and won't pick up. The cat smells pretty shitty and we may gutt it or put on my midpipe as my car is down. Does it sound like just the cat or did I miss something? Thanks for the help

The air pump supplies air to the intake at idle and low rpm. Now that you have removed it, the car is running too rich. You will also destroy your main cat without the air pump.
Also, you should have an ecu before putting on a midpipe.

so put it back on ! The reason we took it off is that it is louder than the engine and exhaust until 3250 rpm. Is that normal? I know the magnetic clutch shuts off around there but is yours that loud? Thanks Rynberg, I thought it was that, can't do one thing without affecting ten!! HaHA

apexi intake. Same cow under the hood though.will i get boost creep with a gutted cat? What else do i need to remove?(egr,acv,pcv,etc...?)How does it not effect idle on robs and others who have done it, is it the engine managment? He likes being able to see the turbos also!

I am thinking you should have just tried unplugging it first to see how the car reacted, that way you could avoid the hassle of removing and reattaching. Unplugging mine never affected the idle and when I removed it completely I had a Pettit ecu and I get perfect idle all the time.

My airpump apparently isn't working would it be okay to just install some manual boost controllers, replace the cat, and install the greddy pulley set? i have a few friends that don't have the airpump hooked up and their cars seem to be running fine..

Hobbe7 do your friends have upgraded ecu's or stock? If they are upgraded who tuned them out here on the islands? I haven't found anyone I would trust a civic with let alone my FD! Any tuners who want a vacation to the Islands to tune a couple of FD'S???
