Titanium exhausts, input needed

I'm looking at replacing my GReddy Power Extreme with something slightly smaller and lighter, hence my interest in a titanium exhaust. I'm not fond of GReddy so I refuse to use their Ti version. So my choices are (AFIK):
Tanabe (piping is stainless, good price, supposedly 95db)
Magnaflow(all Ti, very overpriced)
JIC (some sales around and they have several versions inc. dual tip oval version, quiet)
HKS (full racing, with midpipe, I'm sure it's quite loud)

Anything else out there that I'm overlooking? I'd definitely like to spend LESS than a grand on the exhaust and having a single turbo, noise is an issue. I have a Borla XR1 as a midpipe and the droning is now starting to bother me. I think the muffler is getting old. I'm probably going to replace it with a straight through XR1 race or a Magnaflow.

Hi Michel, I have the JIC single canister titanium catback on my FD and love it. Coupled with a resonated midpipe and downpipe, it screats at WOT but is docile when cruising around town.

rotaryextreme.com has a Ti exhaust as well as imported Japanese exhausts like Kakimoto and RE Ameymia. Many are out of the price range though. I have the GReddy Ti myself and love it but I hear most Ti exhausts sound really good and deep. The JIC is the only other reasonably priced full Ti exhaust. It looks like it comes with a Ti resonator making it a better bargain since you want to replace the muffler in your midpipe anyway.

I can vouch for HKS, Greddy Ti Systems. The greddy sounds nice, but is a bit loud. The hks is my favorite exhaust for the car I think.. Sounds awesome. Its loud but not too loud, my greddy evo with a mp is louder.

I have the Greddy Ti, it sounds nice, but I think I'm going to get a resonated mid pipe . My buddy has pretty much the same set up as I do but has a resonated mid pipe it's much quiter and deeper sound.

If GReddy didn't have such sucky *** service and tech support, I'd go GReddy. I just hate GReddy USA and most of the morons that work there. I just refuse to support them any longer.

I'll check out some of Chuck's stuff...

I'm mainly concerned with droning in the 65 to 85mph range. The car gets quiet at about 85 but is very noisy at 75. On the street it's just fine, tooling around town but on long trips it's getting tiring. I think my exhaust may be worn out internally, dunno for sure.

I've always liked the JIC stuff but it's pretty close to a grand. Anyone know of a place selling them for a decent price? I know Horsepower Freaks has a special on the oval canister verison.

As for the suspension, the Aragostas are simply awesome. I've been messing around with them a bit as of last night and today. Just a really nice ride even when the damping is pumped up a bit. On the softer settings, it's like butter

Michel, I think it is kind of silly to forego a catback based soley on customer service. The GReddy piece has alot going for it---price foremost, and also it looks and sounds great. I doubt you'll have to worry about Greddy's customer service with this piece anyway. Hell, I have boatloads of Greddy electronic parts on my FD (boost controller, turbo timer, gauges) and have never had a problem.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. I could see where you'd refuse to buy a product from a company with poor customer support. But were talking about an exhaust here, nothing electrical. Well worth saving $500 imho

I have to admit the only good thing about GReddy are their exhaust systems...I have an EGT gauge that took them SIX months to replace (went bad after three days). They've refused to acquire little parts for my T78 kit, gave me wrong information and generally didn't know what the hell they were talking about when inquiring about tech stuff regarding their T78 kit (which I owned). It was about the worst customer service I've seen. They really don't care about the consumer because there's tons more eggheads like me lining up to buy their parts. So I'm voting with my wallet

With that said, it seems like the JIC Ti exhaust is now just a bit more than the GReddy and it has a resonator whereas the GReddy does not.

The JIC Spartan DE Type 2 Ti Exhaust System also looks interesting as it has a larger oval canister for better noise suppression. I think it's a single tip and not a dual however. The N1 style Ti may not have enough noise suppression. Rage, how's your JIC Ti on the highway?

Sounds badass when going WOT on the highway....kind of like a DEEP noise but not a weedwacker sound. I have a resonated midpipe so i'm sure that helps.

I brought the thread back from the dead.

The '93-'95 RX-7 Magnaflow Ti seems to have dropped dramatically in price. It's MSRP is now $795 and I've seen the street price under $700 shipped.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=Sport&id=230
http://www.hottexhaust.com/search_re...hParamType=ALL

So now there are 3 reasonably priced high quality Ti catbacks to choose from.

I have the JIC. Not to bad at all. So much lighter! Would not mind a smaller tip or dual tips...

There was never a RE Amemiya exhaust on RotaryExtreme. The RE Ti exhaust was a (R)otary(E)xtreme full titanium catback. There was also a titanium midpipe. I didn't see it on the RotoryExtreme site any more. Too much competition in the Ti cat back market maybe?
