tips for switching to synthetic n gauges

Hey what's up? I've finally decided to switch to synthetic.. I've always been conservative about using what I thought was the "safest" way to go (natural). But there are too many pros about syn that seem all to appealing to ignore.
Anyways I was wondering what I need to do specifically when I switch. should I run a few quarts of syn thru the motor at first to try and flush as much mineral oil as possible? or do I run the car with syn for a while then drain and refil...?? I know that syn oils are compatible with mineral oils but I just want to make sure I do it right.

GAUGES.. just picked up two HKS gauges.. was wondering if the 150 degrees max farenheit reading on the gauge was worth using for oil temp or water temp. I know the FD runs at high temps.. maybe even over the max gauge reading.. is it useless??

FIREWALL: I was also wondering around what vicinity is it NOT safe to drill a hole thru the firewall of the driver's side.

thanks in advance

1. You don't have to do anything special. Just put in the new synthetic. No flushing required.

2. If you got HKS gauges, the readings are in C, not F. If you ever hit 150C water or oil temps, you are toast.

3. You shouldn't have to drill any holes in the firewall. Just run the gauge sensor wires through the ecu wiring harness grommet, the steering column boot, or the pass through behind the driver side fender liner.

thanks but I checked and it seems like its impossible to send the line from the boost gauge thru the firewall without drilling a hole.

So even for the temp sensor and the boost vac line, I don't have to drill a hole in the firewall? I checked on Rob Robinette's site and it made it seem like I had to drill a hole to get thru the firewall.

and even for the temp gauge I could just tap into the ECU wire instead of hooking the sensor up to a direct source of oil or coolant?

I hope that was somewhat coherent to readers... thanks for any suggestions
