I did this a while back, and it actually did go very smoothly. I've done other engine swaps before, but this takes a bit longer because of the complexity and tight clearances between components. I would also have on hand an extra solenoid or 2, a powerful impact driver and very large breaker bar to remove F+R eccentric shaft bolts, and all the stuff you may as well add while things are apart, like PS elimination hose, any vac or coolant lines that haven't been replaced w/ silicone, spare turbo studs and nuts, block off plates for any emissions stuff you are getting rid of, braided OMP lines, aircraft hose heat insulation for turbo coolant lines, drivers side poly motor mount, clutch, lightweight flywheel, maybe a cast oil pan. Send your injectors to rc engineering and housings out to get lapped, and do everything else while waiting for them to return. I used a reman, but still have the original engine that I will be rebuilding myself for use with a single turbo. If you will be rebuilding stock turbos try and find a source for an uncracked manifold before you pull the motor so you can buy it if you need it, and make sure you mark the position of turbo housings w/centerpunch so they are rotated to the correct position when you clip them back together. Best thing is to take a lot of digital pics and label everything with one of those super fine sharpie pens so it goes back together easily, and make sure nothing you have laying around will get disturbed. Biggest pita of the whole project for me was getting the wiring harness out of the body- I made a nifty contraption out of 1/2" electrical conduit that I could snake around the ABS to pop the grommet in and out, worked like a charm. Careful with that wiring harness too- made me feel like I was unwrapping a mummy. 2-3 weeks should do it.

You could also use a really long flathead screwdriver with PB Blaster to put it back on.

I went a little extreme, so I didn't have to do that again I made a connector...
