Time change ur FUEL filter !!

TODAY my friend change his Fuel filter on his R1, he was bitching for all time (like me when I change my)
and suprisely the fuel we took off it still got the origional CHROME sticker , and the fuel it come out is all brown yake, the filter is like at 10 years old.

we bring the car to testing with PFC and Innovate A/F meter. we saw change of .5 A/F on Innovate (from hight 10. low 11 to low 10 and mid 10) and the fuel injector duty cycle decrease 5% at 7000RPM. his R1 come with knight sport high flow turbo and down pipe, h/F cat, cat back. PFC

I recomand two thing. change ur god dam fuel filter every year!! u can pay some poor sucker to change for u
and go buy a Innvoate A/F meter is cheap and fuction like 1000 dollor machine

On top of the differential. Once you do it once it's not that hard.

Don't mean to be ignorant, but what makes it so hard? Drive the rear end up on ramps, roll under there and then what? Is it hard to reach or find?

Some time the hoses are hard to pull off , very hard . My mechanic remounts them on the rear of the rear subframe, with screw on fittings . He can change one in less than three minutes .A new one cost less than $ 10 .

It's a pain because you can't see anything up in there.

That's like saying "what's so hard about changing the vacuum lines". You really don't know until you do it. We can explain many ways to do things on these cars and they sound easy until you actually perform the task.

I agree, something as easy as changing the oil may seem easy, but if the filter is stuck on there, it can be as tough as hell. This goes for any job. Once you tackle a problem once, though, it's much easier the next time.

New gas filter "less then 10 bucks" Where are you getting your gas filter from and what brand? The cheapest I was able to find one was for about $19 bucks from Advanced Auto.

I hate having to change the fuel filter. My hands barely fit and the hoses are so hard to get off. After doing it once I'm dreading the next time.

When I change the fuel filter, I usually hang a light inbetween the gas tank and the subframe. It helps me to see the filter. Seeing the filter is the easy part. Trying to get those hoses off of the filter is like pulling teeth!

I'm glad this only has to be done only once every 15k or so.

Moving the filter down requires drilling two holes to mount the stock bracket on the sub frame . Replace the hoses to match the filter you will be useing .Then change your filter in 2-3 minutes .

relocating is the way to go. After changing mine once I decided to relocate. Just have to drill new holes for bracket and get some longer hoses and new clamps as your at it.

its not just rotary. . . all cars will suffer from clogged fuel filters. you have to make sure you change them on all cars. . . especially ones with high consumption rates. the purolator filter that i listed is used on a number of turbocharged applications as well as the 12cyl jaguar xk or xj 12 or something like that. . . its a good filter and the lines that i listed are the lines needed to thread into the filter. with that kit. . . youll be set. . . and the filter is about 5-7 bones.

If you are relocating your filter, do you even need to go through the hassle of removing the old one? Can't you just cut the lines and splice them together somehow, then go under the hood and mount your new filter wherever ou choose?

That's the route I'm going next time. No more expensive filters either.
