Question Tie Rod housing removal w/o the SST?

I don't have access to the SST, but have you guys removed the tie rod housing w/o the SST? I read of of some people who have even removed it with an adjustable wrench, but I am weary on doing this since the last thing I want to do is to round off the housing. I was reading the manual and it says that the washer needs to be removed prior to removing the tie rod housing. Does it even secure down the tie rod or can I remove the tie rod housing w/o removing the washer? Thanks in advance.

the inner tie rod has a washer that is bent. just pry it out of the way. the inner tie rod is just a ball joint on a big threaded end. nothing special, whatever you can turn it with without rounding it will do fine. a inner tie rod tool will make it alot easier as all you do is take off the otter and the tool will slip over the tie rod and turn it. allowin a air gun or big pry bar if it is a bit frozen. try calling auto zone etc they may have one you can rent/borrow
