^lol nice.

About 8-9 years ago I had lots of tickets in the rx7. (I was 18-19) the 3 worst(1) A ticket for street racing. Usually went out on a weekend in houston and everyone was racing, cops didn't even care. well this particular night I drove around for 4 hrs and couldn't find anything, then out of frustration I lit the tires up next to this v-sux mustang that was trying to race me. And of course I get a ticket the one time I find a lousy 5 second race that night. What a shitty 2 hour ride back home.

Other tickets were 95 in a 65, got dismissed cause my court date wasn't for a whole year.

And the worst of all. Evading arrest with a 135mph in a 70 ticket. That story is long, but basically I was speeding (82mph) , he was on the other side I sped up to 110 like I usually did in those cases. But instead of him never catching back up, he tried his little hardest by maxing his car out at 135. I saw a little white dot barely gaining on me, and I'm like wtf is that? Ah crap it's that cop! So I down shift to 4th and start leaving him behind at 170 mph. Took this curvy road off the highway by my house (rural) completely lose him and they caught me later. And me being 18 and new to the whole thing admitted everything (right to remain silent) got arrested, 5 years probation, 250 hrs community service and about 5k in fees. Lesson learned... Keep your mouth shut.

I haven't had a ticket now in about 6 years my car is too scary to drive fast most of the time. About 10 seconds of full throttle is enough adrenaline to last me the day.

When I lived in PA, there was a rural road with a stop sign at the bottom of a steep hill with a traffic sign for 40 mph about 1/4 mile up the hill. I used this stretch of road to check standing start acceleration on the car after a tuneup. If everything was working right I could hit 80 mph going past the sign. One day I did this perfomance check and was just slowing down when my radar detector went off. I go shxt! but there isn't a car in sight. About two seconds later I see in my rear view this marked PA State cop car literally materialize out of the shubbery at the side of the road behind me. He had backed his car into the mass of underbrush and tree branches on an old abandoned driveway so he was hidden from traffic. Luckily I had slowed down from 80mph, but he got me for 55 in a 40 zone. All the while he was writing the ticket, I was trying desperately not to laugh, because of his stealth hiding place.

I bought my fd in Texas and drove it back home to North Carolina, The first stop I made was @ best buy and I got a passport 8500 and then nav. then punched my address in and when home. I almost got a few but my investment protected me . But next week my wife went to FL. and I let her use the radar detector.... and im on my way home from work driving, cop pulls me over and I asked what seems to be the problem? (never admit anything) he says he got me going 37... I then asked whats your point? it was a 25 in that area. LOL well I said I just got the car last week and my wifes out of town so u can't give me a ticket. so anyway he let me go. Then my wife gets home and she got a ticket for speeding!! I know thats not exactly a ticket in a fd though. I did evade a few.... but anyway

I got pulled over this past semester for not stopping at a Red Light (Flashing). I clearly stopped because cars were going in front of me. I just came off the highway to the light and looked in my rear view by habit and no one was behind me. I take the left turn and as I'm turning I see a cop flying down the off ramp to catch up with me. I'm driving and I see this cop speeding to get back up to me and cuts off a guy who was right behind me. We pull up to the next red light and stop. I'm waiting and I just know something is about to go down. The light turns green and I go through it and the lights come on behind me. He said I didn't stop at the light from the off ramp. Ridiculous ticket because I know he wasn't behind me when I stopped and only saw me leaving the light. I wanted to fight it but I just paid it instead.

Another time I got pulled over for no reason. Cops check my license and see it's a Florida license and plates. Ask me what I'm doing in Nashville and I say I go to the school where we just pulled into (took a right turn into a parking lot that was at the edge of campus). Keep questioning me about some stupid things. Both cops come out and I'm kind of worried that I did something wild. Turns out they just wanted to check out my car. They said I was shooting flames out the exhaust (I wasn't doing any wild acceleration, just normal driving). I said "oh really?"...like I had no clue They said they "just wanted to let me know. " Then they started smiling and asked "what I had done to the car." I told them I didn't want to admit to anything in case I was breaking car modification laws. It just seemed like they were trying to get me to incriminate myself. They said they didn't even know all the laws. So I told them all my mods and they just smiled told me how sweet my car was. They let me go and told me not to speed. I told them "me? Never..." They laughed and told me to have a good night.

Where I live there is a long bridge before entering Tampa and cops like to hang out right before the bridge. Well, I was late to work in the morning and I was too tired to remember that cops speed trap there. I get pulled over, he comes up to me on the right side of the car and at the time my whole instrument cluster was out(was fixing the odometer)..there were just wires hanging in front of me. He asked me how fast I was going and I felt like pointing in front of me and saying look you moron..but instead I thought he could give me a ticket for improper equipment or some ****, so I said no..he didnt even notice..I think it was 82mph in a 60.

I got pulled for dead inspection, dead tags, and no front license plate (after driving that way for a year). The tags were dead for over a year because renewal is predicated on a semi-annual emissions inspection and I hadn't gotten around to swapping the cat. Thing is, I'd "borrowed" one of the date decals from one of my other vehicles, so the officer was decidedly NOT happy with me after running my info in the computer. They'd since reassigned that plate to another car, and he wondered about the sticker.

I explained to him that my wife does all of our bills and paperwork, and must've mixed up the sticker with one from our other cars. It didn't prevent the ticket, but it did prevent the car being impounded, or me being arrested. I'm 41 now, and that would NOT have worked when I was in my 20's I assure you, but the cop who was about my age listened as though it sounded just like his household, and practically chuckled with me about it. I drove home laughing, but also realizing I'm too old to pull this sort of stuff.

I shared these stories on reddit.com in a post where someone asked "What is the most illegal thing you have ever done". Most of the people on that site aren't into cars so I had to give a little more detail about cars and racing. Enjoy.

Ran from the police twice. Both times involved street racing in Cleveland.
The first time was at the local drag strip, which was a pretty much abandoned street in the Cleveland Flats district. On this particular night there were probably 100 cars lining the street with races going on non stop for two hours. The cops didn't really care too much about what went on there, as long as things didn't get out of hand they would let us be. On this particular night though, this was not the case. At about 2:00 in the morning the cops were there in force with about 10 cruisers and the police helicopter. Everyone quickly booked to their cars and tried to get away using the various side streets that weren't swarming with cops. I was able to get away by going down a side road that was lined with abandoned warehouses. It was a 25mph road I was probably going 70 trying to get away. As I was speeding down this road the police helicopter decided to make me its target and shined its spotlight right on my car. At this point I was panicking and flying down every side road I could. After what seemed like an eternity running from this helicopter I was going to give up and pull over, but right then a Camaro blew by me going way faster then I was. The helicopter fixated on the Camaro which was intercepted immediately after by the police. I felt bad for the guy because those cruisers were probably sent to come after me and he had to take the fall. After the pursuit was over I was able to get away by racing down more side streets and eventually back to the highway.
________________________________________

Edit. Ok, here's the second story. I'll try to explain this with as much detail as possible for the non car people on reddit.

I should preface this story with a little bit of history as the racing takes place in a totally different environment then the first story. In the summer of 2002 racing stopped at the location where the first story took place. The cops were no longer cool with us racing on that near abandoned street and they would bust everyone every time there would be even a minor amount of racing. I came to find out later that there was a bar up the street from that strip that was being used as a front to run guns. The FBI had gotten involved and the cops wanted to put on a good show for them. This lead to all of the racers (at least on the west side of Cleveland) to move to the highways. A highway race is very simple if your not already acquainted. Two cars agree to race at a given roll speed, the two cars line up next to each other at the given speed (usually 40mph), three honks and go till there is a clear winner. The winner is determined when a car has a distinct advantage ex. When a car continually pulls ahead of the other car at a steady pace or if the cars max out their speeds and no one is gaining or loosing ground. If two high powered cars with similar HP go against each other and there are no driver errors (missed shifts, traction issues) the races can last a long time and end at very high speeds. This was the case in the story I am about to tell.

Unlike the first story this one doesn't have such a happy ending. It was a normal Saturday night in the West side of Cleveland. It was around 1:30 in the morning and lots of cars were packed into the usual parking lot where all the racers and car people would meet up. On this particular night I didn't really feeling like racing, as I had went out on the highways the night before and we had some close calls with the cops. We had really pissed them off and I didn't feel like risking getting busted for street racing or for whatever charge for any number of the illegal things that go on during a highway pull. That night I just wanted to hang out with friends and check out some cars. At least this was my intention till some redneck rid with a mustang cobra decided he would run his mouth.

Just to step aside for a second, car people have large ego's and when that large ego is mated with a car that has alot of power you can get some real ********.

The kid had heard something about my car and he wanted to run me. I told the kid I didn't want to that night, but that didn't stop him from running his mouth. I heard what the kid had done to the mustang, that he was spraying a 100shot (nitrous 100hp) and had every bolt on (basic upgrades) that you could strap to a mustang. I knew it was going to be a close race but that I should be able to take him. So I said **** it, whats one pull, and the only way you can get a redneck that's talking **** off your back is to beat him. We agreed to a 40roll on the usual highway (I480) and only one pull as I didn't feel like taking any more risk that night. We got on to 480 and went a little distance down the freeway before we lined up. We slowed down to 40, three honks, and then we went. The kid got a good launch but as my turbo's kicked in I was pulling on him. At about 120mph the nose of my car he just passed his front bumper and the race was still going. It was at this point that we crested over a hill on the highway and sure enough these was a ******* cop all the way on the right side of the road hidden under the oncoming bridge. I was in the far left lane and was going about 130mph at the time. The thought that entered my head wasn't panic which would come directly after my decision to run but instead I calculated it out. I was going 130mph and a cop car can only go about 127mph, also it will take that cop a while to even get to that kind of speed. I also knew that my car topped out at about 170mph and that if I kept in it, there would be no way he could catch me. So I said **** it, I kept my foot glued to the accelerator peddle and blew past the cop at what must have been about 140mph. By this time the mustang had slammed on the brakes and he was out of the picture. I kept accelerating and eventually topped the car out at 170mph. I stayed in it till I was coming up on the last exit before the highway turned into the turnpike. So I got off the highway, blew through a red light, blew through another red light and got back on the highway going the opposite direction. My plan was that I would get off at the next exit and go to my friends house where I could stash the car till morning. This unfortunately never happened. When I got back on the onramp going the other direction another cop at one of the stop lights I just ran had seen the whole thing and had clocked me at 106mph on the on ramp. I knew I couldn't run from two cops and that the first cop couldn't have gotten my plate number or a accurate description of my car. I drive a 94 RX-7 which unless you know your cars is kind of hard to recognize, especially if it just blew by you at 140mph. So I pulled over and to stay that the cop was pissed would be the understatement of the year. This cop ran out of his car and ordered me out of my car at gun point. He threw me in the back of the cop car and repeatedly screamed "WHAT THE **** DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!". I told the cop some lie about how I was selling the car tomorrow and that I wanted to have one more night of fun in it. The cop bought the lie and issued me a ticket for 106 in a 60, reckless operation, no front plate, and obstruction of rear plate. Amazingly the cop let me go, but before he let me drive away he asked me "HEY!, you didn't see a black Trans-am hauling *** down the highway did you?" I answered "No" he replied "it was going your way, you sure?" once again I replied "no". It was amazing, the first cop had mistaken my car for a Trans-am and I'll take what I got over felony evading any day.

I still had to hire a lawyer and pay him a grand to work some magic. I ended up going to court and my lawyer got the 109 in a 60 dropped down to 79 in a 60, the reckless opp dropped down to failure to control, and the front/rear plate violations dropped. I ended up paying $1500 over this whole mess and got four points on my license. I continued street racing for another four years and two years ago I quit. I got serious about my life and quit living on the edge like that. I do admit though, if I am driving the car around on a nice day and some guy suffering from a mid life crisis pulls up to me in a Vette I'll still play.

If you made it the whole way through this story I just want to apologize for my bad grammar as I am sure I fucked up somewhere. Thanks

I got pulled over by 3 cop cars that had 2 officers in each car when I was 17 years old for nothing. They made me do all sorts of tests to see if I was drunk or on drugs and threaten me saying that they were going to bring the dogs, take me to jail, and stuff like that. One of the officer even searched me 3 times and when I told him to realize because I dont like that gay **** he hand cuffed me and out me on the floor. It doesn't end their I had those 6 officers search the hell out of my car messing everything up in it. They ended up taking a bottle of johnny walker that was unopened in a bag and telling me that the reason why they pulled me over was because I looked SUSPICIOUS a 17 year old kid that weighed about 145-150 with a work shirt on and some shorts looked suspicious WTF btw did I mention that this happened about 5-8 minutes away from my house and one of the cops knew me because he worked at the guard gate to enter my community.

One year of owning the FD & no tickets. Guess I've been lucky. I live on base and don't drive the car much at all.

I will add, I've been riding sport bikes & owning turbo Rx7's for many years. Had my fair share of fines

Good thread btw. I like threads that get to know the forum members better. Happy rotoring all

The only thing that stuck was the street racing. The only reason it stuck was because the other guy that was being charged along with me with me pleded guilty to that. I got a $500 fine and NO cummunity service . I'm 100% sure we could had gotten all charges dismissed if he would had listen to me.

How did I get all of that **** dropped? Basically the easier I make it for the cop, the easier I make it for the D.A. and thus make it harder for me in court.

got 1 ticket so far (knock on wood), heading south, down the 101 about an hour past king city. came up on this crouch rocket group, maybe 4-5 bikes... most had girls on their backs. So one or two want to pick up the pace a bit, so we speed up to about 120+ mph, and these chicks are really into this; leaning to the side and they got special foot pegs and then we come around this bend, and there's johnny law sitting on the side behind a sign, and the bikes brake damn fast, much faster then me. But this wasn't where I got the ticket, so the bikers catch back up to me and we make signs to each other, like wiping our brow to say "holy shiet, that was close" .. cop never came after us...

but then later in the day, after lunch this female cop (pretty cute too) saw me whizz by at 120+ again, and like the other guy did, I pulled over early and waited, of course not knowing she was female, or that I would suddenly ask for her number LOL ... 85mph on the ticket ... "shwwwew!" didn't get her number tho

do the cops in Japan really give up if you're going over 110mph ?

Ahhh one of the beauties of living in the true land of the free (Dominican Republic), no such thing here as cops pulling over for speed limits, speed signs here are 60 and 80km per hour on highways, they are like 40 years old and are there just to decorate the road. You do get tickets for going red lights or making illegal U/left turns.

Street racing here cops usually show once for every 40 or 50 days of racing and most of the time just take on bets and enjoy the cars hehe. That's funny AND sad at the same time

did 120+ in a 65mph carpool lane, only got cited for the carpool + tint

two weeks later hassled about my exhaust and tint, cop thought the turbo timer (not even connected) was a emissions bypass device, wanted to pop the hood and sniff around, threatened to impound the car and measured the ride height of my stock suspension... total n00b

recently deliberately ran a stop sign at night (didnt see the polize), didnt have up-to-date insurance form, cited for that too

cops are dicks. but i dont mind stopping and paying its like paying taxes. i only get caught 0.00001% of the time. i violate traffic laws 95% of the time (who does the speed limit? really?)

the only time i got caught speeding was in a '91 toyo camry 4banger apparently with enough runway i got up to 84 in a 65

my best story was when i was on my motorcycle...

I don't really have any good stories in the FD, two front plate fix-its, a warning about my taillights being out, and that's about it. One night however I was out cruising with some friends, two in particular, one has a 99 mustang gt that runs quite strong for just LT's and an h-pipe, and the other was driving my at-the-time daily a 95 toyota celica with the 1.8l 4 banger (slow as **** but fun). They were at the front of the group and I was in back, it's a group of probably 10 or 12 cars, and we turn onto hwy2 (******* stupid as highway with stoplights all along it) and a cop comes flying up behind us and pulls them over. He tickets them for speeding 55 in a 40 (yes, 40 on a highway), engaging in a speed contest, andhe gives my friend in the mustang a disturbing the peace for his open cut-outs (not visible but quite audible). This speed contest happened in the span of about 100 yards, the celica could barely hit 40 in that time, let alone 55. He said he recognized the vehicles as "modified for racing" and visually estimated the vehicles to be doing 55 based on "training."

The celica has aftermarket wheels, that's it, and the mustang has nothing visible, and my FD was, at the time, at stock height, with stock exhaust, and aftermarket wheels and tires. Otherwise there was an old white fox body, also stock in appearance, and some trucks and a jeep. Yeah... racing, not when it's 40 degrees outside at 12:15 in the morning.

Anyways, we took it to court, kept having to get it postponed, which was a bitch because we had 4 witnesses (myself and 3 others, not counting the drivers) and they finally decided to accept the damn plea deal. Needless to say I was pissed with my friend who kept pushing for it, I would've had not problem missing work if they had won, but to take the damn deal was fucked up. The ended up with attempted engaging in a speed contest, 0 points, and like a 120 dollar fine. Cop showed up every time too.

CA Leaving class at Skyline College...

...about to merge to 280 on my way to work. On the empty freeway, I intentionally passed a lone 18-wheeler that was veering left and right in an unsafe manner. I therefore didn't see the cop on the other side of the road. I think he was surprised how fast I was able to bring my car to a full stop. I explained the to the officer that I didn't want to be anywhere near or much less behind that semi, and that I had just left school and was then on my way to work. He claims I was doing 110, but he presented me with a ticket for "over 65." That was my last one 2-1/2 years ago. It was around $300 or so.

I'm not condoning speeding. But I had 30 minutes to leave Ochem II and be at my job in downtown SF. Working while putting oneself through college/finding time to study/eat/sleep is no joke for anyone who's ever had to do this.

no joke, even harder with an FD to take care of, that's why I love my on-campus job.

I've been pulled over once at night but got let go with a warning for a tail light being out and him realizing I was on my way back home with some Taco Bueno.

Only ticket I've gotten was 72 in a 60 in a speed trap on the highway in North Richland Hills with two motorcycle officer. I had a cheap Cobra radar detector that was given to me by a friend who considered it broken but I pieced it back together and have used it ever since. Suddenly I heard it making a noise I'd never heard before and slacked off the gas and immediately looked down and realize that I might have been doing 65. An boxy economy car pull out in front of me (Trecel, Metro, or something like that) cuts into my lane in front of me (the slow lane) and speeds up. I'm looking around what caused the noise and don't see anything. Then I come around on the bridge and see the officer and they setup working a shoulder on the right side of the highway leap frogging each other with more people. I wasn't worried as I had slowed to ~55 since they were working on the shoulder and then was waiting for him to go after the econobox. He turns on his lights and I pull over towards the shoulder assuming he's going to pass me and then just follows me onto the shoulder and proceeds to very efficiently writes me a ticket for 72 in a 60. To this day I say it was complete bullshit but I did the defensive driving thing and avoided any points, but it still cost me time and money. I guess it's sports car tax, but odd on those speed signs that they set up my speedometer always show me speedo to read a couple mph high (might explain why I get tailgated so often). Still disgusted just thinking about it though...and I was on my way to Gotham too!
