Throttle plate

Is there supposed to be that much of a gap at the bottom butterfly or throttle plate? See the pictures. Thery are kinda dark, but it's because the camera is autofocusing on the light...yada yada yada...

The pictures are of the bottom butterfly with a light shown behind it.

Yes, if the thermowax cam isn't kicked down. It holds the primary throttle plate open until the car warms up - this gives you the slowly descending idle from 1500 RPM as the car warms.

Pull up on the cam for the thermowax and see what you have. The throttle plates should be fully closed with it disengaged.

Right on. We'll see if this is the source to the high idle....
