Thumbs up Thinking , About The RX-7

Well I was thinking about the rx-7 and getting one , right now i drive a 1988 Nissan Maxima , With t4 Turbo upgrade , And full cat , Coust Cold air , full body kit , And every thing re built , I run about 342 hp , Now i have been a RX-7 Fan since i was little , the sound , Of the car , the look , And Every thing about it Seem's Appealing , But Theres a few questions i have , That i would like to address , I have looked at the stickys about buying an rx-7 and every thing , So my questions are , Since theres so expensive , And i am 17 , I was wondring Whos the best people to get a loan with , Once i turn 18 , And If i should go with the 1993 , Since thats all that i can find near me that doesnt cost 25 k $ , there around 10 k $ , And then get a 3mm street ported motor: $3400 At rx7.com , Efini Twin Turbo -
Price: $2,595.00, And if i do get that engine and the turbo , What psi do you think i would be able to run the boost at , Once i upgraded the controlers , And things like a fuel pump from a car that has a bigger one , and im really wondering , If all this Money and Work will help me out , In the long run if you know what i mean So help me out here people !

Thank you !

It's not the car payments that make you broke, its fixing the thing. All your questions can be answerd by useing the advanced search function.

alright pretty much what everyone is saying is that, a lot of people have been asking the same questions here recently, this forum has been here for awhile and im sure the questions you have asked, have been asked by others. it just takes a little fine tuning of the search keywords that you use. When you buy a 13 or 14 year old car, you gotta take the problems that come with it. Now this could be a blown engine, replacing turbos, replacing solenoids, actuators, vaccum lines. lots of things. this site will be a good tool for you, if you can learn to use it. as far as getting a loan at 18 good luck. it takes good credit to get a loan by urself especially with a sports car and about 10,000 bucks. you are more than likely going to need a cosigner on the loan. its all up to you what you make it. make this ur own car. dont go buy what other people have put some research into it to make sure its what u want and will really help you out in the long run.

Getting a loan? I don't think so. It's not that easy to get one for a car that's over 10 years old unless you have perfect credit. 18 years old = No Credit!
You can get a Co-signature from someone however, It's not easy to finance a car this old unless you have a very nice size downpayment to soak up most of the cost of low bluebook. You might want to look for a 95 model (Hard to find) but if you find one before the year ends, It will make your chances alot easier before it turns 11 years old.
If you find yourself struggling to get a lender I would suggest looking into a Credit Union. That's what I did. I was able to get an Un-secured loan up to 10k for 3-years.

Ouch! you might want to shop around for another quote. Even though the 7 is a sports car, it's an older car and insurance is actually pretty resonable for it.
When did you get your car and what year is it?

How did you finance it? Co-signer or not? I ran into a MB 93 with 86,000 miles on it in June 04 at a local used car lot. I was going to pay 16k for it but they were struggling to get me a lender for the full amount. After that I decided not to give up and joined a Credit Union. Once I joined they damn near threw the money at me! lol

[QUOTE=Force13B]It's not the car payments that make you broke, its fixing the thing.

^^ Werd.
If I were you I would just wait and save some money. I mean a loan is going to *** you over anyways b/c your going to have payments. What happens if something breaks, are you sure that your going to have enough money to pay your payment and fix the problem and pay your insurance, and don't forget gas. If not, your just going to have bills for a car that isn't running.
Take some time and think about it. I'm not trying to bash on you or nothing. Just take some time and think.

I was in the same situation as you. (It's common for these cars to have some kind of problem) thank God I decided to keep my 01 GTP as my daily driver. After I drove the 7 for a couple of weeks, I found that my turbos were shot and decided to pony up some more dough and go single. I have'nt hardly driven my car since I bought it.
I think it's best to keep these things as weekend car because of it.

If your age ends in '-teen' , and you're not capable of doing your own research, this is NOT the car for you.

if you really want the car, try considering student loans, and then take that money (money with low interest rates) and use it towards your pleasure...but serioulsly, if you can't afford to get it, how are you going to pay for gas, insurance, maintainence, and the new motor that you are wanting?

My bitch is payed for HEHE. I've been saving since i was 16 for a car bought my FD outright at 22. All i have is insurance and gas. Seriously though its the things you break that rack up the coast. Tranny, tubro, radiator, fmic on and on and on. Then if you blow a apex seal rebuild 3k. If you get 1 take care of it, it will take care of you. With this car you can't do things half ***, it has to be done right our going to pay for it big time later.
