I'm thinking of buying a dry cell battery for my fd.. scosche to be exact.. would the dry cell battery with higher power.. makes my fd start better.. and would it actually help ignite the plugs better??

The Odyssey PC 925 works great and is smaller/lighter that stock. The 625 is too small for automotive applications in my opinion, though people use them. I always see them die. Another option is an Optima Red Top. Stay away from deep cycle batteries such as the yellow top. while they do work, they take a long time to recharge and therefore put extra strain on your alternator.

arent the dry cell too heavy for an fd.. and does it really offer performance gains.. I am thinking of changing my spark plugs as well.. what do u recomend, really want the best spark plug.. (my fd is stock twin turbo..)

Ihor gave you a great recommendation and you come right back with another question? Have you done any research on your own about dry cell batteries, or do you just plan on asking every question you may have about changes you want to make to your FD? I can promise you that almost every topic related to the FD has been covered by someone else. You just have to search.

And yes, I run a 925 and have been very happy with it.

Just search before you post!!! The answers are out there....you just have to spend some time reading.

A properly sized dry cell should not be heavier than the stock battery. If I recall correctly my PC925 was lighter than stock at under 30 lbs.

I know I came off sounding pretty harsh, but please don't take it personally. It is frustrating (at least for me) to see so many threads from new FD owners that have been covered multiple times previously.

I have never claimed, nor do I claim, to know everything about the FD. I do post on occasion, but I usually spend most of my time reading and researching before posting. I think you will find FD owners helpful if you have shown that you have invested some time researching the topic.

I believe the 925 weighs around 24 lbs or so.

i had a red top sitting for a year took it out and it started a car first try without a charge.

i use a 680 and it starts my rebuild fine, i have let it sit 5-6 days and it still starts. haven't tested it beyond that time. 5-6 days time is sitting in garage, not outside with alarm enabled. it does seem to lose a bit of charge during this time though, and cranks for an extra 2-3 seconds before starting. think this can contribute to early plug fouling?

Get the NAPA brand dry cell, I have found that dry cell batteries are subject to failure if allowed to run down, or charged from dead too fast, I have killed at least 5.

But napa, will honor the warranty on a batter based on the date of manufacture alone. The last 3 napa dry cells I have had have lasted about 1 year each, the batter fails, and I get a brand new one free of charge because the drycell has a 24 month warranty, the do the replacement entirely based on the manufacture date.
