I tend to be patient, but this is pretty funny.
JRT, if a 3 year old car is giving you problems, think for a minute what a 15+ year old car might be like? Add to that the fact that it is a rotary engine, which very few folks seem to know anything about, and the fact that the FD has a rather finicky twin turbo setup (all the 93+ RX-7s are turbo charged bty) and you will have more headaches than you are ready to handle.
In short, don't.

where to start
1. you like the style but who doesnt.
2. yes it has a rotary engine but do you understand how it works and how to work on it.
3. all 3rd gens are turbo charged they all come with factory twin turbos or aftermarket single turbos.
4. if you cant handle the hassle of working on a wrx how do you plan on keeping up on a FD RX-7
ive owned my FD for about 4 months and ive gone through a tranny and a Ecu but i love it so shes like my bank and takes all my moneyz, i say do your research and see if you can handle and afford it

People need to read up before getting themselves into a money pit
If you think you spent alot on a wrx lmao. What do you think you spent 500-1000. Over the next 5 years of owning an FD with mods etc except to pay 10k or more imo.

This is the second one today. Mostly it is just kids masturbating in public. Though I think the rate has been fairly constant over the past few years (after a really big spike after the first F&F).
No person seriously considering buying a car is going to wander in to a group with over 1/2 million posts and post something with a title like 'Thinking about buying an RX-7!!!!!!!!!!!!'. A serious buyer will actually take the time to find FAQs etc.

5 to 10 years ago they were the "rich boy daddy cars" when they were relatively expensive to purchase + maintain.
The problem now, 15 years after their production, is that they are becoming far more affordable ( I have been seeing some decent 7's being sold in the 6-10k range ) so now you are getting worse than the "daddy's boy" who was at least rich and in most cases, had a decent education (being a daddy's boy); now you are getting the idiots , the goons and the morons ------ the REAL issue that makes me sad is that this forum has turned into trash... The older crowd that actually had a legitimate intellectual capacity, the professionals and the innovators are moving on and subsequently this forum is slowly being replaced by trash threads, questions and repeat AGE OLD discussions...
Even four years ago --- this thread was a boiling pot of great information + discussions... There are still note worthy people here but its not the same caliber.
In all honesty --- I wish Rx7club.com would begin charging for memberships --- nothing significant, maybe 10 or 15 a year and I would gladly pay this cost. Why? Because it will keep idiotic posts like this, scammers, and other useless trash off the forum.

c'mon guys, don't be that cruel, he's asking for opinion, why do you want to trash him. as long as he have the dough for the maintenance and make sure he's able coolant seal and overheating, i don't think the car is gonna give him lots of issues.

It is a truly wonderful performance sports car, when it runs.
The maintenance is pretty straightforward, until it breaks.
It is a fun car to drive, until you wrap it around a tree.
It is a great platform to mod, if you can afford the components.
Starting to get the picture? My old fart belief is that this is an expensive toy for folks that are at a place in their life where they can justify an expensive toy. The problem is that the folks that would never dream of shelling out the money for a new Evo, or Corvette, think they can get a bargain with the FD. The problem is that buying the car is often the cheapest part of ownership.

So i sat down and thought about the FD RX 7... i would like to knw the pros and cons.... before i buys one if i do..

Have you even read any posts on this forum yet??? Seriously... there is NO NEED to be asking these questions all over again. Don't be such a dunce, there is SO MUCH information on this website you could spend months reading through it, and always learn something new.
Do your research. When you are ready to own one of these cars you won't need to ask questions, you will already know the answers. If you do start threads it will merely be to confirm what you already learned.
Same goes for you, 94---->RX7.
Keep your wrx fan boy.

I'm in the process of buying my first FD as well, have been for a few months. Read the faq thread first. Then if you have any more questions people always seem more then willing to help around here.
This isn't a car you can just get in and drive. You have to be meticulous with routine maintenance, if you do then it'll treat you well but can still give you tons of problems.
The FD is a great car for sure, but you shouldn't have one as your dd.
Advice that is always given to me is "Always have $4-5000 on hand for when the engine blows".
