thinking about buying an fd

i know someone locally that has an fd and does all his own work.. im really interested in buying one and he could help with learn to work on it on my own..

just curious.. do any of these look ok.. like i know its hard to tell from a picture but do 3rd gens engines practically always go bad with high miles?

1) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1837495828
2)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1837549091
3)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1837472807

I will probably go through autotrader.com to find one locally, and go and check it out with my friend so i can make sure i get a car with a good stable engine, because i wont have much money to spare, but if i can find a deal online, id just as soon go with it.

My brother bought his 94 mustang gt with like 97,000 miles on it off ebay, and has had it for almost a year still runs perfect and out runs gts straight off the dealership lot.. i know its a totally different engine, and lots more can go wrong with an fd, like the turbos ect... but can some fds hold out even with larger numbers of miles?

much appreciation to anyone that replies with some input, thanks a bunch

im sorry... rotary engines dont last much longer after 100,000 miles.. but if they were taken care of perfectly then they might last a little longer.. but if you buy an fd with that many miles on it u'll basically have to put money away to get a new engine.

This one is the only one which looks ok to me.. And that's because it's lower mileage, and a extended warranty might be available it says. I would want to get a warranty for the car if I was going to get one because you never know what may happen 100 miles after you have it, and you can't tell to well how the car runs from pictures. Anyways here's the one I don't think is too bad.

And this next guy isn't sure if he has a t04B or sequential twin turbos. Besides that they spent $2900.00 for motor with 75k on it. They got ripped on that one. And sure it has 18's on it but they are cheap and look to be 18x7.5's which would be a downgrade performance wise from the stock 16's.

This next car looks ok, but they don't list to much info on condition, etc. That could be a bad thing.

All in all I'd say to stick with buying a car local that you can check out because I have seen people buy cars on ebay and end up getting not what they wanted when it gets delivered. I believe someone on the forum bought a 2nd gen and it had all sorts of stuff wrong with it when he got it.

because i wont have much money to spare
a lot of the FD owners will tell you if you don't have the money to spare then the car isn't for you.

thanks black99, i agree about checking out the car before you buy it.. thats why im considering using autotrader to find some fds near me.. i mean ive looked in plently of local papers but never any in there so autotrader is probably my best bet.

Oh and here's a good place to buy rx7's on here. There are sometimes some deals on here, plus you get to know the history of the cars etc.
