Unhappy There's a first time for everything

I've always thought one would have to be utterly lame to run out of gas...Parked! Well, I might as well sell my car and start riding the short yellow Laidlaws bus, 'cause I am lame.

Here are 5 reasons why I should be the president of the lame brotherhood.

1. I live .7 miles from work
2. I live .3 miles from a gas station
3. I live .0001 miles from a second car
4. I have a mountain bike
5. I was still late to work

Actually, I shouldn't be so hard on myself, the only reason I ran out of gas was because I parked it after a 330 mile socal7 club event without fueling (Most excelent run!), my cat had an apointment to be fixed, my second car was hauling the cat, the gas station was closed, the trash barrels still had to be put to the curb, and my bike had a flat.

Sad thing is, I was still late. Maybe I can at least get the vice president seat... right behind the emergency exit.

I always play it safe and fill up right after the cute little 'low fuel' light comes on. Doing it then sure beats the poop out of having to deal with a 'ran out of gas' situation.

"Warning: Expending all fuel can result in sedimentary fuel pump damage and extreme lean conditions, especially under boost. Motor replacement under hood is closer than it appears."

Get in line behind MightySlash at the automatic car-wash, and best to follow a 1/4 tank minimum.

I believe you only pop the motor when the low fuel light comes on and you hit boost...then you are in trouble

I think that it could, but in my case, I was warming the car up without any load, and still cold. I am thankful that it happend while I was parked. I could imagen if you ran out of gas while boosting you could poof your motor in a heart beat.

I have run the car low before, but I think that this time I stretched it just a little too far. My gas light has only come on once or twice before when I really eaked it to the gas station. This time there was no light. I think that having been parked on a slope might have contributed to my delema.

I live in fear that my low-fuel light led is blown out. I have yet to see it, and I am the king of fumesdriving.
