Question Is there a check valve between AST and reservoir?

Iīm checking my coolant hoses beause when my car reach 180° F, some coolant begins to leak by the pressure cap on the AST. I change the cap by a new one with 16 lbs (the same as before) but the nothing different happens. The same problem.
The system do not "suck" coolant from the reservoir either.

I donīt have the symptoms of a water seal burned, like hard to start engine (If I just show the switch key to my car, it starts ). I donīt have the white smoke at startup either. Maybe there are another symptoms that I donīt know and my seals are gone anyway.

Never overheat since I have my car. (15000 street miles)
The engine now has 20000 miles. (pettit ported 3mm apex seals)

Well, checking the water hoses I was checking the hose that goes form the AST to the coolant reservoir tank, I was blowing by the AST side to check if the hose was blocked and there is something that avoid the air (by my blowed) reach the reservoir tank. Is there a check valve (one way circulation valve) between the AST and the reservoir tank?

Thanx for the replies!

any other comment will be really appreciated.

No check valve.

There is a connector under the airbox that connects one hose to the other, maybe it's clogged by something.

GsrSol is right, there is no check valve. The line is supposed to flow freely each way. If you're going to get access to it to check it, then my advice is to just replace it while you are there. They tend to get clogged with gunk and/or develop leaks over time. Just get a few feet of hose and be done with it. Dump the cheap plastic connector piece too.

there is a restricting orifice (~.07") in the hose fitting, on top of the exp tank. most likely to plug there.

no check valve

take the hose off and make sure you can blow thru it, they do plug up.

Same problem?

Hi guys-
I too have been havent coolant problems for a while. First I had a bad hose (torn), then a leak in that plastic box off the right side of the radiator. The coolant light would always come on. Seems that even after these 2 repairs the light still comes on. But the overflow tank is always full. Shouldnt it take the coolant from the tank?

I see here that you mention a clog. How can i see if there is a clug preventing the radiator from taking the coolant from the overfllow?

Thanks!
