Actually its $1100 from Pettit. I too, thought only $550, but you have to add the lights ($400) and a couple other little things that bring you to a total of $1100 which is still cheaper than you can get the original($1350) from RX7 store or corksport.

But you want this one because the plate holder will be shaved and it will be made of urethane!!

You prefer the plate holder? I don't see why-- it doesn't make the car any lighter, faster, or more reliable, nor does it enhance the lines of the car. But, hey, if you like it you can always buy the factory front end.

For those of us that see the plate holder as an abomination on an otherwise finely styled piece of plastic, there is now rotaryextreme's option:

Buy the real thing 99Spec with Lights and rebar.
I bought mine from RX7.com
There where the cheapest and they keeped them instock. I ordered mine and recieved the whole kit with in a week.

The fitment if perfect no Bondo Putty needed like fiber glass. Plus it won't spider web in time.
If your state requires a front plate get the real thing. Anything less is just to cheap.
Always use the best parts on your FD when you can.
It all about maintaining the original factory look.

Good Luck

Yeah that's what I mean't. I'm not taking anything away from one without a plate holder because they look great too. But I personally like the one with the plate holder it interupts the lines on the front end and sticks out but again it's always appealed to me for some reason. (Guess I'm a weirdo lol) but both versions(with and without plate holder) are super nice.

My state does require a front plate, but I don't use one. If I have to put one on temporarily, I'll use that metal L-bracket that came with the car. It's the real thing, but it isn't permanent.

looks like rx7store.com not .net has them for 800 or so with the turn lamps included so that is a really good deal
