Alright guys, Im going out to test this FD. I called the guy today to get some details. Engine has 1500 miles, everything else has a whopping 200,000. He says everything is in great condition. It also includes the $6,000 stereo system (like I care). I was just wondering if theres anything I should look out for. Ive already checked the suggested sites, like http://robrobinette.com/buyaused.htm but I was just wondering if anybody has any other things to look out for, due to personal experience. Unless he is selling for $6k or so, why would you bother buying a car with 200k miles?

I paid just over $1k more than he is asking for a car with 44k miles.

 

200k on the chasis is alot... talk him down to 10k maybe... yeah and 6k stereo... big freagin whoop

 

i dont care if carmen electra masturbated in this car, 14,900 is way too much for 200k miles..even if you plan on keeping this car and not selling it ever, the fact of favoring his stupid mind of making A TON of cash on you doesnt seem to make sense and its just stupid..

the fact that within the first 10 words of his ad he mentioned F&F worries me...

 

my last FD had almost 200k on the chassis, and it was one of the cleanest, mechanically sound FD ive ever had. As long its been taken care of, there aint anything wrong with having such a high mileage car. Of course i wouldent pay 14,900 for it though, unless it is highly modified.

 

What is the most you guys would pay for it, assuming everything is in great shape? The guy said that all he does is drive it to work, and he takes good car of it, keeps it garaged, etc.

 

with 200 grand on the odometer its probably worth 5 grand.just blue book it.Afterall.The mileage on the chasis is what matters to insurance companies.
