Tested the BNR's at Deal's Gap!!!
I finally got to get out and play with my new set up (Stage 3 non-seq) and tune from Steve Kan.
On the way to Deal's Gap we met up with a Honda 600 at a gas station. He was also heading to the Gap. On a 4 lane heading up, I gave him a wave to run 'em. I didn't know what to expect but I pulled on him. I started out in third and by the time I made it to 4th, there wasn't any need to keep going. This was the first time I've ran anybody and I was pumped.
Once at the Gap, we had a blast. I got another chance to test my car out. I had two crotch rockets pass me while we were filming. I decided to leave my group and try to keep up. I was able to keep up until I got scared...lol My car was breaking loose coming out of the turns so I didn't want to keep pushing it. It was only my third pass down the Gap so I thought it was stupid to keep pushing it. I also had the guy with me that puked just after the first pass. I was throwing him around enough as is so I didn't want him blowing chunks in my car!
I would suggest to the people participating in the Deals Gap trip in April to make sure they have good brakes and good rubber before they come. I don't think I was pushing my car to its limits but I know I was pushing myself to my limits, especially since I'm still not use to my new turbos and tune.

Nope, I'm running non-seq.
Yeah, I've heard that 600 are easy to pull on but I always wanted to see if it was true or not. It's true!
My brakes help up just fine. I had a lot of brake dust on the front wheels at the end of the day though. I thought I felt a little brake fade once but it was when I was going ***** to the wall trying to keep up with 2 bikes through the the turns. It was only one time and I didn't fell it again when I went through the next curve. About 3 turns later I let off and waited for the camera car to catch back up. That was our last pass for the day.
I made 2 and a half passes down and back and that was enough for me. I pushed my car hard all day. Even on the way home I was hard on the car. I was glad that we had no problems for the day. My car ran like a champ, I on the other hand couldn't have gone many more trips down and back. I wasn't sick yet but I was getting close...

Yeah I told Phil we needed a tow truck on stand by for April. I think we are going to have someone drive my truck up and carry our supplies. At least we will have a truck up there just in case. Surely there would be a uhaul place close if we needed a trailer.
Everybody better carry some wood to knock on!!!

Which is highly recommended. Gas stations are few and far between once you get to Deal's Gap.

If anyone can make it an April, DO IT! We had a blast this weekend and it will only be better with more people.
I had made the trip before, but not in my FD. Quite different than your Sunday cruise in the mountains! I will probably do a few more runs between now and then since I am only about an half an hour away from the start of the curves.
I will admit that AgentSpeed's car can move. I only got to ride with them on the mountain (mine is the middle car on the video), but he came out of some of the corners and disappeared!

Aren't these roads patrolled by pigs? Jeez, you'd think with all these riders goin' *****-out, the local law enforcement's register would be goin' cha-ching every 3 minutes!

I was riding with with Agentspeed most of the time and once riding with someone else to tape the video.
I have to say Agentspeed did quite well driving his car and controlled his non-seq turbos very well. Only once I recall "light up" his tires.
I do agree with you, superior force, its almost impossible to beat a bike on the deals gap. and too be honest, its a place to experience and not really to race to beat others. That's only going to cause problems.. As you could see in one clip of the video, the biker who leans and disappears from the road, obviously he's no amature. Also, I've met Rob who's suppose to do as well with his M2 stage 3 RX7 as some bikes, who's going to give us a lecture about the Deals Gap. Hope that will educate some people at our gathering...

Sounds like fun , Heaths car pulls very strong at low boost , I can not think how it would be at higher boost in the curves .It runs so well because of the y-pipe and the torque brace . hahaha . I hope to change some vacation days and go up on Friday and Saturday in April .

My non-seq car did just fine. In fact I'd prefer a non-seq or single turbo car on a road like that anyday. That transition between the two turbos could really throw a driver off in a curve. I like to know that my boost is solid and isn't going to fluctuate in the middle of the rpms. Only when I pushed it (just trying to keep up with the bikes) did I break loose. It wasn't a bad kick out either, just like a second at the most but it would always catch without me ever letting off. If I had more experience on the road then it wouldn't have bothered me at all.
And just to clarify, I raced the 600 on a 4 lane road heading up to Deal's Gap, not on Deal's Gap. The only thing I worried about on Deal's Gap was not killing myself!

Note that comparing a YZF-R1 which is a street legal race bike to a FD isn't exactly fair, lets put some interior panels on the 787B and send it out to caynon run with the R1 . And no driver in a 911 is going to keep up with anyone that knows how to ride their R1 on any road.
Specs on the bike (assuming 160lb rider for the 1/4 mile time/top speed):
Engine: 998cc, liquid-cooled, 20-valve, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder
Compression: 12.3:1
Fuel System: fuel injection w/40mm throttle bodies
Transmission: 6-speed w/multi-plate clutch
Dry Weight: 379 lbs.
1/4 Mile: 9.93 sec.
Top Speed: 178 mph
Horsepower: 150 bhp.
Torque: 71 ft.lbs
On a note aside from that I would much rather have a turbo that spools ~3k in a consistant manner than the sequential system for road racing, if you want to be on boost coming out of a corner its not hard and if you don't want to boost but still want to accelerate some to balance the car you also can.

The last I heard the same guy held the fastest times in both.
The fastest on a bike and the fastest in a car (3rd gen RX7)
(The bike was faster)
That's just hear say so correct me if I'm wrong...
