Angry temp issues, cant believe this cra@#$

Ok, i leave out the long history.

i just changed my thermostat, (just double checking the spring assembly goes into the block and not the removable water housing)

anyway i start it up after filling the water and decide to drive it around the block, perhaps not smart.

my gauged on the dash shoots to the H mark, but my powerFC is still aroundn 30C. The gauge now pegged at the H, and bam, the powerFC temps start going up to almost 100C but the dash gauge now drops back to the normal position.

i would like to say it was idling a little off but i was so pissed i could really concentrate.

So what the hell is going on? i guess i could find the next question in the manual but i just want to cry. where is the temp sensor for the gauge and the ECU?

It's called air pockets in the coolant system. You need to spend some time burping the coolant system.

The temp sensors for the dash temp gauge and ECU are in different locations. The temp sensor unit for the dash gauge is just in front of/below the oil pressure sending unit on the driver's side of the block. The temp sender for the ECU is on the backside of the thermostat/water pump assembly.

Ya i hate air bubbles. Just keep topping it up until all the air is out.

While 100C is hot it isn't that bad. The gauge cluster water temp gauge sensor is on the rear of the block by the oil filter and the PFC reads it from the thermostat housing. This is why your gauge can read a bit ahead and the PFC number can rise so quick after the thermostat opens. If you did over heat it you may notice smoking while running, continued overheating, and coolant loss. Just do at Kento suggested and you may be alright.
