Temp Gauge Linearization Question

Does anyone know what would happen in I did the linearization mod by just soldering the jumper wire but not calibrate the gauge?? I only want to be able to see a change in temp, I am not concerned with the numbers, would this be OK??

Nope. It does not work that way, you still need the pot to give the gauge usable readings.
