Question Some questions about NOS

Hey peoples. I was wondering if you guys can tell me if its ok to run NOS on an FD? What kind of mods do you need to run a safely run a small shot? All I know about NOS is that the wet systems dump fuel in with the NOS and the dry systems just dumps in NOS. Is a NOS wet system hard to install on an FD?

Please don't flame me for asking because I'm just playing with the idea. I don't really like the thought of using NOS as a crutch, but I would love the intimidation factor of having a bottle. Stay open minded. Remember, there are people out there who consider turbos a crutch too. And no, this isn't becasue of fast and furious. Even though I liked the movie I feel the same way bout NOS now as I did before I saw the movie.

Thanks for any help.

There are a couple of FDs running nos safely. I read it in the forums a long while back. As far as the needed mods I dont remember.
If you just want the bottle....get an empty one and stick in under ur seat like the F&F that's pretty safe since it wont mess with ur reliability.

HAHAHA I'll just mount it in my back window so everyone can see. Mounting a bottle with out hooking it up would be like getting the NA BOV kit that just mounts a speaker under your hood that goes PSSHHHH!

I know why I'm not getting very many responses. Ok everyone. Flame as much as you wish just toss in some useful info with it.

You can run nos as long as you know how to tune it. Just like tuning the car at high boost. If you don't have any aftermarket fuel managment system, I wouldn't mess with it. You'll also need to upgrade your fuel/ignition system since the stock fuel pump can't really handle the extra capacity to run a wet kit. General rule of thumb is to retard your timing by 1 degree on every 50shot you spray. also, the most you want to run nos on pump gas is about 12psi for twins and 15psi on single. anything higher, you'll run into detonation.

so to safely run NOS I would have to upgrade the fuel pump and get a PFC or something like that ot change the timeing right? I have a g-force ECU now will that not be good enough?

yeah, you should retard the ignition timing slightly on a piston engine, but I don't know about rotary. Get an MSD 6a. Add more fuel to it. (for the record, I've never liked dry or wet systems, only direct port.)

You will also need to run colder plugs. If you don't know how to use it, you will blow something. Your chances of detonating are very high if it is not tuned or used properly and the rotary is not gonna like that. I have used NOS on other cars and have plenty of expierence with it and I would ONLY run it on my FD if it was a strip car.

There are people with FD's on here that run NOS and can tell you more specific w/ the rotary.
