tail light scratch removal

I just did the 99 tail light conversion, and I noticed that the outside lenses on my tail lights have some small surface scratches on them. Anyone have any ideas on how to polish them out? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

There are 2 ways that I know to get rid of those scratches off plastic. (Maybe other members know of alternative methods).

1) For tiny scratches, use toothpaste. Scrub the surface of the plastic w/ toothpaste and a toothbrush.

2) For larger scratches, use a polisher. Great Northern tools had a plastic polisher (in their catalog) the last time I checked.

I have seen some zymol wax take off the swirl marks on the plastic but that plastic polish sounds sweet, I will have to pick some up.

I bought a used taillight bar a few months back when my E-brake failed. It was all fucked up when I got it from mazdarecycling.com. I sanded the scratches out with 1200 and 1500 grit sand paper. After that I used tripoly and jewlers rough and a buffing wheel and it shinned right back up. I think I spent 40 min doing it. I was pleased with it and you can't see any evidence of previous damage.

I had the exact same problem. Go to pepboys and they have a kit that has a "micro abrasive" paste and polishiing wheel that fits to a hand drill. All for 10 bucks. Worked GREAT! I even used it on the front lenses! I HIGHLY recommend this. If it doesn't work for you... well your only out 10 dollars!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to try the Mother's Polish, and the kit from Pep Boys. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again,

David
