T56 Tranny

Besides me later in September. Who is in a interest in doing the Tranny swap.

And also from the experts. I was wondering if its more harm put too many braces on the transmission & driveline as you suppose to allow the body to flex. otherwise you break things easier!

Well I'm far from an expert but I have a TH350 trans swap and the casing broke from being solid mounted to the body... use a flexplate... keep things lined up.

I'm looking for an extra gear so if you know where i can get a th 2004r please let me know!!!

For the rotating parts of the drivetrain, rigid is better. Flex = misalignment = increased stresses on the weakest parts of the gearing and shafts. Most brace designs help support the loads of the drivetrain housings, so as long as the braces are a good fit and they don't pull or push on the drivetrain when installed they will help.

That said now, the flex in the chassis does help relax shock loading a little bit. When driving a high power car it's always important to avoid shock loading the drivetrain any more than you must.

Insomniac, I'd sure love to see your setup sometime. I'm in Linglestown.

howard coleman is supposedly in the midst of creating a T56 swap kit. I'm sure he'll chime in!

So if I have an auto FD, how hard do you think it is to do a T56 swap?

Mike From G-force transmissions makes an adapter for them and the starter in the stock fd manual starter location. bell housing is steel and mid plate in aluminum to adapt it to the t-56 trans.
