I have read on current posts about the strength of the Turbo2 diff on the FD, but seach doesn't exactly work with this consider T2 is too short for search. So could anyone hook me up with any info on which parts are needed and/or some links to threads concerning this info.

I found alot of info when i was searching last week. But i tried now and just could seem to find much. Look for TII instead and you'll get info.

you need a tII *87-88* differential

this is not the "chunk" per say, but the actually differential guts

they are a straightup swap with the FD differential, and you can use new bearings/spacers from an FD and it will require no shimming

meaning, you treat it just like your differential went bad in your rear end, only you swap the TII diff pack in with the FD spacers/bearings....you can't reuse the bearings/seals that you destroy essentially when you disassemble the rear end to get to the diff....so you have to use new ones

I picked up my 87-88 TII diff from (Rich)Goodfellas and had my mechanic throw it in using everything else from the FD(bearings, ring and pinion, casing). Straight swap and you can feel the difference.

Did the 1st swap when my friend broke his FD diff many years ago. Decided to measure it when it was apart.....and since I had a spare T-II I tried it and it's been in there since then...over 5-6 years ago at least.

Just like "93BlachFD" mentioned.....treat it like you're simply replacing the guts using all the FD bearings and spacers....and drops right in. Just need to transfer FD ring and bearings(new) and slide it in.

My FD has seen at least 50 hard launches (ET streets and Nittos drags) this past year....Diff still holding well.

If you are using a used T11 diff , you CAN use the same bearings , just don't mix up the outer races.

judge ito installed the diff but i was there helping


boostn7 was the first to do it. i was one of the first to do it with a BRAND NEW one though

so you're recommending NEW bearings? i'm doing this this week, have ordered seals, do i need bearings as well?

bringing this thread back since i'm doing the swap now............did u guys use the stock fd axles on this as well? i have all the "guts" swapped into the case, wanted to make sure before it goes back in

anybody?? diff is back in the car but the axles don't feel like they are going in as far as they should, almost like they are bottoming out

you use the 3rd gen axles. im doing the same swap this coming week. Did you rebuild the S4 lsd unit?

Where can i get the clutch paks, ray @ malloy?

i didn't rebuild it , it was a lower mileage unit so i just dropped it in using new seals and bearings from malloy

Is this a relatively easy project to do on your own? I have a brand new TII lsd and wouldnt mind saving some money (so I wont feel so bad buying the Rx7.com axles) if it is feasable.
