Symptoms of Broken PPF

I am wondering if there are any definate symptoms of a broken or cracked PPF? On my particular car I get some "jerkiness" on ON/OFF throttle movement and also the shifter moves front to back slightly on ON/OFF throttle movement. It used to move side to side alot also but that was fixed when I made some urethane motor mounts. I plan to crawl under the car to take a look at things this weekend. I know that if cracked, it usually happens where it mounts to the diff or tranny. I will weld it up and do some reinforcing if this is the problem. If I find that its not the PPF what else might it be, Diff mounts? Are there any tranny mounts on an FD? The previous owner had the 5th gear syncro replaced and I am wondering if something was not put together correctly or worked loose.
For reference the car is a 93 R1 currently with 38k miles. Any help is appreciated.

Well, you most likely have a cracked PPF, that, or the bolts are loose that secure the transmission and the rear end in place. There are 4 bolts at each end of the PPF. Four that support the trans and four that support the rear end in place. To also answer your question, there are no tranny mounts. Hopefully its just loose, but if it is cracked, pull that bitch out, reinforce the heck outta it, paint or whatever and put it back in, then you will be smooth sailing. Also, the fifth gear thing wouldn't have any impact on the problem your having. Good Luck with everything.

I'm having the same exact problem...most of it was fixed by replacing the motor mounts with the Urethanes, but I crawled up in there to find one of my Diff bushings is shot. (second time)

As far as the PPF, I couldn't find any visible cracks...but I'm prpbably going to pull that out so I can get a good look at it. I'll let you know what I find after this Sunday.
